To get started in the VATUSA ATC Training Academy, new VATUSA members should complete the enrollment request form located at www.vatusa.org/training/academy_enroll.html. Letters of interests are no longer being accepted via the Training Department email address. Once the request is approved, the member will be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned the Academy Entrance Exam which must be completed at the VATUSA Certification Center, located at http://www.vatusa.org/certcenter/index.php. An automated email will be sent to their registered VATSIM email address letting them know the exam is available. The member must log into the Certification Center using their CID and their VATUSA p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word. The Entrance Exam consists of 20 questions having to do with Basic ATC fundamentals. Since this is an open-book exam, members can refer to the VATUSA Basic ATC Study Guide, located at http://www.vatusa.org/training/reference.html while attempting to complete it. The minimum p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing score is 80%. There is a mandatory 2 day waiting period before a failed exam can be retaken. After receiving a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing score on the exam, the student will receive an automated email (sent to their registered VATSIM email address) with instructions on how to log into the Academy. Students should not attempt to log into the Academy before they p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] the exam. Doing so will take the student to the edit profile screen which they will not be able to update or navigate away from. Once the student is added to the roster he or she will receive an automated email (sent to their registered VATSIM email address) detailing how to get started, as well as how to attend lectures and labs. Only when a student receives this email can he or she successfully log into the Academy. Students should be aware that it could take up to 12 hours after p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing the exam before they are added to the roster.
