Martin Weber 985033 Posted October 18, 2006 at 11:11 PM Posted October 18, 2006 at 11:11 PM Hello to all my fellow simmers, enthusiast or otherwise, Martin here from the seychelles. ive just registered and im hoping to do some observations/flights in the very near future its quite exciting to see such a blooming community online, i cant wait to see what the real-time experience has to offer! a brief note on me, im 22 and spent the last 1 & 1/2 year in south africa doing my commercial licence, im now back home and going on my 3rd month with Air Seychelles. Its going great and i want to bring what experiences and advice that i pick up to the online community as much as i would like to learn and benefit from it, which brings me to my second part; i noticed a severe shortage of approach plates for seychelles, this must put controllers and pilots alike off the FIR all together, im willing to scan and upload my CAA approved ones for everyones use, but is there any interest from the community? if so i'll have it up ASAP anyways, looking forward to everyting! cheers! -- "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be"
Ilan Jonas 860311 Posted October 19, 2006 at 10:34 AM Posted October 19, 2006 at 10:34 AM Hi Martin, and welcome aboard! Of course there is interest in the plates, and we would love to host the files at VATAME website. The beauty of the Seychelles would easily attract pilots in my opinion, so we might as well start moving things Don't hesitate to contact me for any [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance or questions you may have, and have a pleasant time online! It would be really useful to have them, but please can you check first that they are not copyright, and that the publishers are happy for them to be posted on a website outside their control. regards Ruth VATGOV7 Vice President - Communications Ruth McTighe Heathrow Director, Essex Radar, Thames Radar, London Information [Mod - Happy Thoughts]t webmistress CIX VFR Club http://www.cixvfrclub.org.uk/ Webmistress Plan-G http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ Now not a VATanything
Martin Weber 985033 Posted October 23, 2006 at 06:00 PM Author Posted October 23, 2006 at 06:00 PM Hi Ruth, Thanks for the heads up, but as far as i know its public property, its printed by the local civil aviation authority (SCAA) and published in the Aerodrome Information Publication (AIP). I beleive they are available on Jeppesen aswell if you pay for it, but these are the ICAO ones and are free. sorry they arent up yet, im tryin to locate a scanner somewhere! -- "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be"
Ruth McTighe 824054 Posted October 23, 2006 at 07:35 PM Posted October 23, 2006 at 07:35 PM The reason I'm asking is that in the UK the charts are free, but the CAA is very strict about not allowing their reproduction. Martin Weber 985033 Posted October 23, 2006 at 08:17 PM Author Posted October 23, 2006 at 08:17 PM Oh right, well that makes sense i suppose, Uk is strict on a lot of things these days, and with 911 and the wake it left, i [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume they want to keep their airspace and its workings as exclusive to aviation personel as posssible. so your from the Uk? -- "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be"

Paul O'Donnell 969350 Posted October 23, 2006 at 09:15 PM Posted October 23, 2006 at 09:15 PM The reason I'm asking is that in the UK the charts are free, but the CAA is very strict about not allowing their reproduction. Ruth Singapore is also quite strict with duplicating the aviation charts. Due to this we at sinvacc have to use rather dated charts or check the CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore) website. But we are unable to publish them on our vACC website due to copyright purposes. This is quite similar to the UK. But it involves alot of time and research to find and print the relevant charts. Martin Weber 985033 Posted August 17, 2008 at 10:11 PM Author Posted August 17, 2008 at 10:11 PM Hey Corney, Sorry so much times past, No aerodrome movements charts for FSIA as its a single runway serviced by 2 taxiways on one end. i recommend colin penneys scenery as its the most accurate available, it can be found on avsim.com i believe, good luck. -- "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be"
