Brendan Ratchford Posted June 15, 2020 at 01:47 PM Posted June 15, 2020 at 01:47 PM I need to ferry an aircraft from LFPO to EDTF... EDTF unfortunately has no instrument approaches- so I would begin the flight IFR until a point, and then include VFR in the routing after a point- typically known in ICAO as a Y flight plan. How would I file this on VATSIM? Just tell the controller that I need a descent and request cancellation at that point?
Mats Edvin Aaro Posted June 15, 2020 at 02:42 PM Posted June 15, 2020 at 02:42 PM Yes! If able, file a flight plan and then request to save the controller some workload (a benefit of being online, instead of the controller having to fill it out), but you can just request it too. 🙂 Mats Edvin AarøAssistant to the Vice President - Supervisors VATSIM General Manager: Member Engagement[email protected]
Andreas Fuchs Posted June 15, 2020 at 03:01 PM Posted June 15, 2020 at 03:01 PM (edited) And: since our flightplan forms only allow for VFR or IFR, select the flight rules that you start your flight with and include the point where you would like to change flight rules in the route box: Y-PLAN: DCT WPT/[Speed][Level] IFR YOUR IFR ROUTE, for example DCT TEDGO/N0170F090 IFR (=start IFR at TEDGO at FL90 with TAS 170kts) Z-PLAN: YOUR IFR ROUTE WPT VFR DCT Edited June 15, 2020 at 03:03 PM by Andreas Fuchs Cheers, Andreas Member of VATSIM GermanyMy real flying on InstagramMy Twitch streams of VATSIM flights and ATC
