Kyle Ramsey 810181 Posted October 28, 2006 at 07:30 PM Posted October 28, 2006 at 07:30 PM Anthony Santanastaso has tendered his resignation as VATUSA12 due to real world time constraints. I want to thank Anthony for his time spent by my side [Mod - Happy Thoughts]isting me with running the Training Department and more importantly the VATUSA Training Academy. The overall and ongoing success of the Academy is due mostly to the structure he created and through the leadership and management that he instilled into both the Faculty and the Students. He has certainly left some very big shoes to fill and I will definitley miss working with him. With that said, I am now taking applications for the Division Deputy Training Director (USA12). The job duties and requirements are as follows: • Reports to the VATUSA Training Director and is responsible for [Mod - Happy Thoughts]isting him in the efficiency and effectiveness of the training program. • Functions as a VATUSA HQ staff member. Attends periodic meetings to report on training activities and issues and to stay abreast of issues which may involve VATUSA Training. • Maintains an on line presence on the VATSIM Network. The Deputy Training Director will also [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist the Training Director with the following: • Ensuring the Division Director is kept informed and up to date on all matters relating to training. • Administration of the VATUSA Training Academy. • Maintenance of the Training Department website. • Maintenance and Administration of the VATUSA Certification Center. • Maintaining a staff of Training Administrators to recruit and certify candidate Staff Instructors. • Monitoring the performance and activity of Training Administrators and Staff Instructors. The preferred candidate will hold either an Instructor or Senior Instructor rating, or will have held one in the past. Experinced Senior Controllers are also welcome to apply. The preferred candidate will have a clean disciplinary record with both VATSIM and VATUSA and will have a willingness to work with the Division Instructor and TA teams, as well as the Academy Faculty and Students. Interested candidates should send their VATSIM resume to the Division Training Director at [email protected] no later than November 3 2006 for consideration. Anthony Santanastaso Posted October 28, 2006 at 10:39 PM Posted October 28, 2006 at 10:39 PM As I look back at my accomplishments as the Director of the Academy and Deputy Director of Training, I realize that they are not in fact MY accomplishments, but OUR accomplishments. As a network – no, a FAMILY, we have grown immensely, every single person lending some sort of helping hand in an effort to have an academy that seemed doomed from the beginning take flight. As a result, collectively we have improved the way we approach training on the network and have done so in a standardized and efficient manner. The students that have graduated from the Academy thus far are proof that the academy is moving in the right direction, and it would not be able to do so without the tireless efforts of all the teachers and senior members on staff. I am so pleased and fortunate to have been surrounded by such great individuals, who, even though they are virtual and most of them will remain faceless to me, are people that I would like to now call my close friends. My experiences in the academy, and as a leader on the network, have been invaluable in the recognition of my personal strengths and, most importantly, my weaknesses. Regrettably and with much dismay, due to the time constraints of my real world commitments I have tendered my position as Deputy Director of Training and VATUSA ATC Training Academy Director. Please believe me when I say that if I could maintain a living with this position, I would choose this over anything. But the fact of the matter is that I cannot. One of my most definable qualities is the need to give more than 150% effort in all that I do, and it became apparent over the last couple of weeks that I was not able to commit to both the Academy and my real world job in this manner. For me, this is unacceptable, and I would be creating an enormous disservice to the entire VATSIM community if I remained in this position. To the Academy Students: My best wishes to all of you who will p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] through the virtual doors of the Academy – past, present and future. You are the reason why I get up every day. Keep the Academy alive and healthy. Your enthusiasm, p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ion, love and desire to control the virtual skies and become a member of our family are remarkable and essential to the continuation of the success of the VATSIM network. To all the Staff: Your hard work and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ion are truly exemplary and it was a pleasure having been able to work with you. It saddens me that I will not have direct contact with most of you from this point forward, but I wish to maintain some sort of communication so that I can be kept abreast of the success of the Academy. A leader is only as good as the people with which he surrounds himself. If that is the case, then it is impossible for anybody in this position to not be great. As always, I remain, Sincerely yours, Anthony Santanastaso Former Deputy Director of Training VATSIM United States Division Anthony Santanastaso Division Director [email protected] http://www.vatusa.net
