For the 111 years of the first flight across the English Channel, VATFRANCE offers you :

a flight between Paris Le Bourget (LFPB) and London City (EGLC) , on Saturday July 25, 2020 with a takeoff at 19: 00z

A little bit of history:
From 1906, the "Daily Mail" became one of the sponsors of the race for innovation to conquer the skies. The British daily challenges with financial rewards, which push inventors and airmen to exceed their own limits and those of their machines. In 1908, the newspaper thus offered 1,000 pounds to anyone who managed to cross the Channel.

And this is how, on July 25, 1909, Louis Blériot and Hubert Latham, two French aviation pioneers, find themselves early in the morning ready to leave Calais for a France-England air race. Blériot wins. He flew until he reached the English coast at Dover, aboard his monoplane, the Blériot XI, which he designed in collaboration with aeronautical engineer Raymond Saulnier. The airman takes off at sunrise, a requirement of the Daily Mail. Severely burned on the Leg following an accident in early July, Louis Blériot walked on crutches, without forgetting that he could not swim! He will still make the crossing in 37 minutes and will be awarded the sum of 25,000 gold francs. Latham with his Antoinette IV built by Léon Levavasseur, falls into the sea, 18 km from the French coast. He attempted the crossing again on a new aircraft, the "Antoinette VII" on July 27 before failing 500 meters from the goal.

Ready for crossing ? then have a good flight
