'07 Convenion question

I am extremly intersetd in going to the convention in Vegas, but I am jut wondering what is typical ratio of pilots to controllers that attend. Are there more of one, or about the same number. Being a pilot myself, I didn't want to get there and be surprised to see only a handful of pilots.

This would be my first conventon, so I just wanted to make sure of some things.

I would go one step further and suggest that convention organizers publish a list of attendees once we get some way for attendance to be confirmed. I have seen threads on various ARTCC forums with people saying they're coming and it'd be nice to have that info centralized?

We plan to do that once we get a signup form on the website.

no hurry, i was just curious. i am waiting for a schedual to see what is going to happen so i know if i am going to attend.

I'd have to say planespotting/listening to ATC has to be tops on that list, especially since KLAS has that settee area at the 25s where they pipe Tower's feed to FM radio.

 

Or even at VGT at the intersections of the 12s and 7 where you can do the same thing..

Yes, I will be asking for presentations for Saturday Morning.... Sat afternoon will be filled with ATC Academy cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]es, Pilot academy cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]es, VATUSA Fly in (control from the convention) and other extra cool stuff... Once we have the final stuff as Tom mentioned from the Hotel, we will release more info...

Connor, it can be difficult to gauge the controller/pilot ratio attending. Suffice it to say, most of the controllers are also pilots so there certainly will be no lack of flyers present. Judging by the attendance at the premiere event in 2006 you can expect the majority of attendees to be controllers, but the activities and content will offer ample entertainment for all.

Absolutely. There were about 45 people that attended last years' event, and the majority were controllers, but alot of controllers will readily admit to being pilots as well. Some will also try and admit to being Elvis impersonators..
