Marc Sieffert Posted August 17, 2020 at 07:08 PM Posted August 17, 2020 at 07:08 PM Hi, I am using several x plane versions saved on separate directories with different Zibo versions and also some used for Vatsim some for Ivao... I recently up graded my X Pilot Alpha to 1.3.30 and as a result the folder "X Pilot" was added in all X plane directories, even those I am using for Ivao. Furthermore due to the up grade each X Plane folder I am using was duplicated or even triplicated but inside only one folder, Ressource/Plugin/Xpilot... nothing else... Before up grading to 1.3.30 I selected the right folder and the right path to the main system. How can I avoid what happen above. Do you know about this issue? This happened only with the latest two up dates. ALSO I was wondering if X Pilot Beta version can still be used? I have the Beta version 1.2.1.0 but when I open it now the system is asking if I want to up grade it to 1.3.27? Is this the latest version for the BETA?? Thanks!! Justin Shannon Posted August 17, 2020 at 07:33 PM Posted August 17, 2020 at 07:33 PM xPilot uses a file called "x-plane_install_11.txt" found in the user's Local AppData folder to determine the paths to all X-Plane instances installed on the computer (X-Plane creates this file). I removed the option to manually choose the X-Plane folder because far too many people were messing this up when installing xPilot. It's less of a headache for me to let the installer do all the work. 🙂 Now, there is a bug in the current installer that will (attempt to) install the plugin in all the paths defined in the x-plane_install_11.txt file, even if they don't exist, which is probably why you have random folders with just the xPilot plugin in them. This will be fixed in the future. xPilot 1.2.1.0 has been deprecated and no longer connect to the network. I fixed the old version check endpoint to point to the latest version, which is 1.3.30. 1 Controller (C3), Los Angeles ARTCC Developer: xPilot, vATIS
Marc Sieffert Posted August 18, 2020 at 09:00 AM Author Posted August 18, 2020 at 09:00 AM Hi, thanks for the clarification. So I understand that you removed the possibility to select the X-Plane folder... but how will it work for people who have several X Plane folders some for Vatsim, some for Ivao and some for other purposes (life traffic, no network etc...)? Will X Pilot be installed on all folders after each up date so that I will need to delete these folders after each up date from all x plane folders not used for Vatsim? If this is the case it would be great to find a way to still avoid this. ALSO what does the up date actually do with the plug in? Does it up date some technical issues related to Vatsim or does it affect the CSL folder content? I am asking this since if after the up date I have some x pilot folders in X Plane folders not using Vatsim and I am wondering what the system is doing. Taking the x pilot folder before up date from an X plane folder using Vatsim, up grading it and then copying it or what is the system doing? Thanks for these further clarifications!! Marc Sieffert Posted August 19, 2020 at 09:00 AM Author Posted August 19, 2020 at 09:00 AM Also I don't know if it is a Bug but when I am entering the flight plan I got two times now the message : ERROR - NO FLIGHT PLAN FOUND ON SERVER - Although I was just filling the flight plan normally as usually... Additionally to my two feedbacks above I would like to add that by removing the option to choose the X Plane folder to be up dated not only all X Plane folders from 1 specific directory will all get X Pilot but even those which are archived on an other directory on another disk. I have the running systems on D and archived systems on E and thy all got the latest X Plane which really is not good. On the other hand we need also the possibility to up grade not only one x plane installation but several ones if we have for example X Pilot used for different Zibo versions... So we probably need something in between adding X pilot to all X Plane directories (also the one which do not use X Pilot) and only to one. I actually have a question, If you have the possibility to select only one X Plane directory, is it OK then to copy the up graded X Pilot to another X Plane directory if required? THANK YOU Justin for having added back the possibility to select the X Plane directory in case of an up date!!🙂🙂 I have 2 questions: 1- If I have 2 x plane installation using X Pilot, the one I select when up dating X Pilot will have its plugin up dated. Is it Ok then to just copy this up dated plugin into the other X Plane directory using X Pilot? 2- Would it be possible to insert a technical feature in the up date process that enables to up date several selected X Plane directories (something between having the possibility to select only one directory as it is now again and having all the folders impacted even those which do not use Vatsim...)? Thanks!!
