Or is there an easier, cheaper way for someone supporting a family of three on a single income?

I saw an add on for FS2002 that made your kneeboard into a web browser but i dont think i saw one for 2004.

Hmm.

What to do?

Yeah there's always freeware, but that's nowhere close to FSNav. this hobby is as expensive as you want to make it. But a lot of the time, you won't get what you don't pay for.

I had checked that site out. Was thinking of trying the 'SuperNav' i believe its called at the top of the page.

Has anyone else used it? Is it any good?

I know eventually i will probably break down and get the FSnav program. It looks so nice.

I promised myself i wouldnt get a headset until after christmas and guess whats around my neck right now.

Oh that hurts dude!!

BTW if anyone has used the Super Flight Planner as it is called, is it compatable with FS 2004?? It doesent really specify in the read me file that comes with it.

I DL'd it but im hesitant to install it unless i know for sure it will work.

And Bruno just google FSnavigator and youll find it.

Matthew, FYI you can try out FSNavigator for free, I think you get something like 10 flights for free, then you have to purchase after that, it's a good idea to check out and see if it's worth it for you.

I don't really use it for anything other than the moving map feature anymore, but it's invaluable for that, I don't fly without it.

You get the first 20 flights for free.

I know ill get it eventually unless the freeware program works out.

Last night i broke down and got FSNavigator.

I am weak.

Its pretty sweet though.

I tried the Super Flight Planner first but i couldnt figure out how to upload the database into it and got frustrated.

I also couldnt figure out how to open it while flight sim was running.

Anyway i didnt even get to play with FSnav last night cuz it got late and i get up at like 5:30 for work.

I did notice there is an update but i dont think i need it. I got FSnavigator 4.7 which i believe is the latest version.

Correct me if im wrong.

By the way this forum is great. Until i can afford my own plan (propably in about 30 years) all i have is Flight Sim and you guys are really helpful when it comes to learning about stuff.

So thanks.

Hi Matthew,

One small thing you'll need to do to get FSNav as up to date as you can get it is to go to http://www.navdata.at and download the lastest AIRAC cycle for FSNavigator. These AIRACS keep the intersection and airway database up to date as they do change from time to time. Unfortunately, you'll be only able to get up to October '06 for free, as since then the people who supply the base info for Navdata(DAFIF) have started charging for it. You can pay for your AIRAC updates through http://www.navigraph.com.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Paul.

to add what Paul just said, make sure you rebuild the Database everytime you update it.

Ok thanks.

Good to know.

Yeah thats a pretty wicked program.

Ive been playing with it all morning.

Goodbye to the GPS screen for ever.

I still gotta touch up on putting SID/STARs into my flightplan but it looks pretty basic.

Nice new tool though.

I think i need to go do something with my wife for a while though.

Ive been strapped into the 'cockpit' all morning.
