Dominic Nguyen Posted September 4, 2020 at 05:37 PM Posted September 4, 2020 at 05:37 PM Under https://virtualairtrafficsystem.com/docs/tracks/#track-symbols documentation, it states that the track symbols are displayed as such in a default profile. In other documents, default profile usually means you can customize it. Is it possible to customize the shape the symbol itself like in Euroscope? The end goal is to create a profile that emulates the FAA's ATOP system for oceanic. It uses similar tools and technology in the program, but the display is a bit different. Cam Tyson Posted September 5, 2020 at 03:15 AM Posted September 5, 2020 at 03:15 AM Absolutely you can change the shape of a symbol in Euroscope! Its under symbology settings. Its a bit hit and miss sometimes when creating it but I recommend you read some Euroscope documentation or get in contact with an operations director who knows how to do it and can help. Cam Tyson Posted September 5, 2020 at 03:21 AM Posted September 5, 2020 at 03:21 AM (edited) Sorry read the question wrong and VATSIM forums won't allow me to delete the post or edit it anymore (bit silly). In vatSys you can edit the symbol in the tracks.xml file you need to draw it. Hopefully the developers can add more than I can. In conclusion, you can. Hi Dominic Yes it is possible to customise basically everything - Profile files Colours.xml, Labels.xml and Tracks.xml are probably of most interest to you. Some documentation exists for profile creation here https://virtualairtrafficsystem.com/docs/dpk/ however I'm yet to document Tracks and Labels. You can draw Ellipses, Rectangles and Path Geometries (figures composed of Lines and/or Bezier curves) for each type of track. PM me if you would like to be added to the vatSys github organistation where we have a number of profile repositories hosted. 1 Jake Developer - vatSys
Dominic Nguyen Posted September 7, 2020 at 11:33 PM Author Posted September 7, 2020 at 11:33 PM PM'd! I found some repositories that belonged to the pacific and I'll try my best to mirror off what they have in there. Another question came into mind that I'm about to find out, does this client model the earth in terms of lat/lon and curvature? The way the client zoomed in and out looks exactly like the RW system that modeled the earth. Past clients stretches beyond east and west with it being centered on the international date line. I ask because the profile I plan to make covers the vast Pacific Ocean
Jake Saw Posted September 8, 2020 at 12:36 AM Posted September 8, 2020 at 12:36 AM Yes, vatSys uses a stereographic projection similar to the real systems. There shouldn't be any issues with the date line. Jake Developer - vatSys
