Colin Billing Posted January 23, 2005 at 12:27 AM Posted January 23, 2005 at 12:27 AM Starting on this coming Sunday I will be running a series of (initially) 6 ATC training nights. These will take the form of myself demonstrating various different aspects of controlling a variety of positions. Controllers and students of ALL levels are invited to OBS in ASRC and join us in Teamspeak where myself and another Instructor will be available to answer questions and discuss points of technique. The sessions are designed to demonstrate both basic and "advanced" techniques on a variety of positions, and certainly for the "aerodrome" and "approach" ones they will heavily feature the mysterious subject of VFR AND very importantly good and solid techniques for the integration of VFR and IFR. It is also hoped that back up written material sumarizing the major points will be available, if not on the day, but shortly afterwards. Of course all of this is also dependant upon traffic levels, and for these nights to be a succes I need them to be BUSY, I need a busy circuit and local area environment, so pilots I urge you to come and join in the fun! - let's see how many aircraft we can cope with shall we???!!!! Huh The innaugural session will take place THIS COMING SUNDAY 23 rd JANUARY and will be held at Biggin Hill Tower, (EGKB_TWR) to demonstrate control of an Aerodrome position (TWR) at an airfield in CL[Mod - Happy Thoughts] G airspace. The session will start at 1900z and will run till around 2200z - with opportunities for chat and discussion afterwards too. I hope that these sessions will be useful, and if they are a success I will plan to a continuing programme throughout the year, demonstrating a variety of techniques. The remaining sessions for this initial "season" will be held on/at ; SUNDAY 23rd JANUARY Biggin Hill Tower (EGKB_TWR) Aerodrome Control in cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] G airspace. SUNDAY 30th JANUARY Birmingham Tower (EGBB_TWR) Aerodrome Control in cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] D airspace. WEDNESDAY 2nd FEBRUARY Cambridge Approach (EGSC_APP) Approach Control in cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] G airspace. Thomas George 827476 Posted January 25, 2005 at 02:10 PM Posted January 25, 2005 at 02:10 PM Folks, The session on Sunday was a great success, and Colin did a sterling job of teaching Tower procedures in Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] Golf airspace. I would strongly advise anyone, particularly STU's with tower exams coming up, to attend the session at Birmingham, this Sunday.
