You should set the multiplayer setting to "group" and AI setting to "off". VATSIM will inject traffic into your simulator via the client. 🙂 Try and see if that helps, if not - check that there are other planes present at your location by using a service like https://vattastic.com. 🙂 If it still doesn't work, check back here!
