Hi,

I have just started my vatsim carrer and I am having one issue. I am only hearing the first 1-2 seconds of each transmission? After 1-2 seconds it cuts out and I don't hear the rest of the transmission. Sometimes it might cut back in for another second but quickly cuts out again. I am using FS2004 and SquawkBox 3. I seem to be heard OK by the controllers. I have tested my mic and headset settings and I think everything is fine. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I can fix this issue. Thx.

When receiveing voice disappear after short time, it is firewall issue.

When you transmit voice at the port UDP 3290 (used for VATSIM voice) , the firewall port UDP 3290 are also opened to receive voice during a short time (firewall timeout), but then the firewall close the port, typical after a few seconds.

To receive incomming voice from VATSIM server proper all the time, it is required to open port UDP 3290.

If you have router there is two way to do this:

1. To open and forward port UDP 3290 to the IP-address of the PC with SB3 (or FSInn).

2. To open port UDP 3290 trigged by TCP 6809 (IP-address of the PC with SB3 are not required to know).

You may find help for your router here: http://www.portforward.com .

Then also disable all firewall in your PC include XP built in firewall. And as well recommended to disable uPnP (if available) in router.

If you have no router and use software-firewall, it depend what firewall (usually "antivirus" with built in firewall) you use. A good software-firewall function should prompt you and ask if you allow incomming data at UDP 3290. However you may need to manual configure your software-firewall.
