Whenever I try changing a parameter in the plugin in preferences in X-Plane I get an error and my changes won't save. My permissions for the entire X-Plane folder should be set properly so that shouldn't be an issue.

It's difficult to say, but something (whether it be a permissions issue, antivirus, etc.) is preventing the xPilot plugin from writing to the configuration file (in Resources/plugins/xPilot).

Edit: Also check to make sure you don't have a stray xPilot.xpl plugin file in the root plugins folder (Resources/plugins/xPilot.xpl). The plugin xpl should only be installed in Resources/plugins/xPilot/win_x64.

After some troubleshooting and log hunting I a have found the issue to be a conflict with the projectFLY plugin. For some reason the xPilot plugin was trying to read and write its preferences to the projectFLY folder. After a run with the projectFLY plugin not in the sim then re-installing it everything has returned to normal.
