The VATSAF division is currently seeking applicants for the position of VATSAF8 – Web Services Director

The VATSAF IT and Web Services team are currently seeking a Director to lead a team. This role involves both the development of new programs and applications for VATSAF uses as well as the maintenance and upgrades of existing applications in use by VATSAF, this included but not limited to all websites, databases, communication services and applications. The position reports directly to the Division Director.

Job Description:

- Reports directly to the Division Director

- Work on the development of VATSAF Division Systems and Application Projects.

- Assist with Maintenance and Upgrade of existing systems.

- Assist with the development of existing web services utilized by the VATSAF Division.

- Attend periodic project meetings relating to projects being worked on.

- To identify own team members and submit candidate list to the Division EXCO.

- To assist the Divisional Marketing Department with the management of social media platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Thorough knowledge of PHP 7 or newer, MySQL / MariaDB Database, Git & GitHub (including branching, merging & pull requests).

- Knowledge of HTML, CSS and Bootstrap with basic knowledge of Javascript.

- Familiar with JSON, XML, AJAX and REST APIs.

- Familiar with VATSIM SSO and implementation (Desirable)

- Familiar with Moodle LMS which is used by the ATC and Pilot Training Departments

- Familiar with Joomla or can create any other Divisional CMS System on any other preferred platform.

- Candidate will be required to transfer to the VATSAF Division if not already part of the Division.

- Ability to work within a team as well as individually on projects.

- Be able to work to set deadlines.

Desired Qualifications:

- Previous VATSIM Staff Experience

- Minimum of Student 3 (S3) Rating

- Minimum 25 years old

What to Expect:

This position is NOT an entry-level position and will require significant time commitments to effectively perform the duties of Web Services Director. All applications will go through an initial evaluation. Candidates who pass the evaluation will be contacted for a comprehensive interview. All candidates will be notified if/when a selection is made.
