Nathan Heaps 963931 Posted December 2, 2006 at 02:51 AM Posted December 2, 2006 at 02:51 AM I was wondering for later reference, is KHPN (Westchester co) in Boston artcc or New York artcc. If you look it up on ServInfo, it says Boston, but it is listed on the New York site and not Boston's...
Dustin Rider Posted December 2, 2006 at 02:57 AM Posted December 2, 2006 at 02:57 AM According to www.airnav.com, KHPN is served by the New York ARTCC. ServInfo is sometimes inaccurate when it comes to depicting who owns what airspace.
Jason Herman 911755 Posted December 2, 2006 at 03:25 AM Posted December 2, 2006 at 03:25 AM Due to the way the airspace is set-up, it is underneath N90 (NY TRACON). However at/above 17,000 feet [over HPN], it is ZBW airspace. Technically, HPN is within the lateral boundaries of ZBW airspace, but is owned by NY TRACON (blo 17,000'). I'm not really sure why the A/FD cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ifies it as ZNY since it is not located within ZNY, however I've seen that false cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ification for numerous airports. On VATSIM, NY_DEP/APP control the aircraft out of/into HPN just like the real world, however, if those positions are not online, NY_CTR would [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume control of these aircraft since they would be providing the services of their lower positions (NY_DEP/APP).
