Can I fly on the network without a weather engine? I am running FSX on an old machine and my Active Sky no longer works due to simconnect issues.

You technically can , but please realize that if you fly into a busy event, realize that ATC is issuing speeds based on an assumption of real weather and that "everyone else" will be using real weather.  So with tight arrival streams, you could screw up an arrival flow, negatively impacting the event.

I hope you can work out the simconnect issues (or find an alternative weather engine).

Worth contacting the guys at Active Sky ( HiFi Sims ) and see what they say.   Their support is always first class even for older installations.

With the caveat that it only downloads and injects atmospheric data (wind and temperature data), but no METAR-data.  Please be aware of this.
