Solution Ross Carlson Posted April 6, 2021 at 02:23 AM Solution Posted April 6, 2021 at 02:23 AM Squawkbox is no longer supported on the network, as of the end of March. Andreas Fuchs Posted April 6, 2021 at 10:19 PM Posted April 6, 2021 at 10:19 PM swift (regardless which version) will only work on Windows 7 and newer, due to runtime libraries etc.. In case that you have a secondary computer in your network and if it runs Win7 or newer, you could use that machine to run swift and connect to FS9 via your local network. Justin Shannon Posted April 6, 2021 at 10:20 PM Posted April 6, 2021 at 10:20 PM (edited) There should be no reason why you can’t run a 32-bit program on a 64-bit machine... Regardless, the legacy pilot clients were retired to allow the network to update to newer and better technologies. You’re using a nearly 20-year old operating system, which has not been supported for quite some time, so expecting us to provide support and compatibility for your setup is not practical. Ultimately, if you want to continue to use VATSIM you’ll either need to figure out how to configure swift (that is, if it supports Windows XP...they have a very helpful Discord server, so I’m sure someone can assist you), or better yet, upgrade your PC. 🙂 Edited April 6, 2021 at 10:23 PM by Justin Shannon 1 Controller (C3), Los Angeles ARTCC Developer: xPilot, vATIS
Andreas Fuchs Posted April 6, 2021 at 11:23 PM Posted April 6, 2021 at 11:23 PM The issue also seems to be that AFV-part of the code does not run on OS older than Win7, but maybe I remembered this incorrectly. Fact is that swiftGUI itself needs Windows 7 or newer, but we have members who were able to run swift on a more recent machine and the connect it to their legacy computer through LAN.
