Dennis Whitley 952478 Posted December 16, 2006 at 01:23 AM Posted December 16, 2006 at 01:23 AM I initially get the error when loading the katl.apt and katl.air files. One of our instructor created the files, and has no issune running them. Runtime Error 40006 Wrong protocol or connection for the requested transaction or request I do not get the error when I run the canned file that comes with the install package KBTV_example. However, I loaded TT on my office machine, and observed the problem initally, but after a few tries, it ran okay with the KATL files Is it possible someone else is on at the same time I am? Ross Carlson Posted December 16, 2006 at 05:24 AM Posted December 16, 2006 at 05:24 AM Yeah, sounds like perhaps a duplicate aircraft callsign. Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Dennis Whitley 952478 Posted December 16, 2006 at 05:32 AM Author Posted December 16, 2006 at 05:32 AM Possible, however, it works sometime, and someties it doesnt. Three of us played around with it tonight, and could notreproduce the same symptom twice. One thing we did notice, mine wants the CID and PW every time, which may be the culpret. We'll keep trying thanks d WWW.VATUSA.NET Previous Management New ATC Click Here http://flightsimx.cyclops.amnesia.com.au/index.html
Ross Carlson Posted December 16, 2006 at 05:35 AM Posted December 16, 2006 at 05:35 AM What do you mean it wants the CID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word every time? Dennis Whitley 952478 Posted December 16, 2006 at 10:30 AM Author Posted December 16, 2006 at 10:30 AM Sory for the delayed answer. Once I run VRC and log on to sweatbox, the second I hit the TT icon, TT appears along with a second box (Please open the Settings Menu and enter your VATSIM CID and P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word) However, the times it does run properly, it immediately works without the Log In Message. I would [Mod - Happy Thoughts]une that this would be a "First TIme" occurance. Once the User Name and PW have been entered after the first usage, you would not receive this again. It does the no matter which Airport or Aircraft File is loaded. Even when not logged on with VRC, it gives the login message in addition to the Run TIme Error 40006. BTW, I did try severl different downloads and re-installs Dennis WWW.VATUSA.NET Previous Management New ATC Click Here http://flightsimx.cyclops.amnesia.com.au/index.html
Ross Carlson Posted December 16, 2006 at 10:41 AM Posted December 16, 2006 at 10:41 AM It will only show the CID/P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word prompt if your settings aren't being saved in the registry properly. The settings are stored in the registry when you exit the program. Try starting TWRTrainer, entering your CID/P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, then exiting TWRTrainer to make sure it saves the info. Then see if you still get the prompt when starting TWRTrainer thereafter. If you do continue to get the error, then I suspect somehow your registry settings aren't being saved right. Is this XP or Vista or something else? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Dennis Whitley 952478 Posted December 16, 2006 at 12:36 PM Author Posted December 16, 2006 at 12:36 PM Okay, here is a possible. I open TT. It ask for the CID-PW (BTW, apprently, it caches it becaued my CID is defaulted in the box) I enter ithe cid-pw However, this time, I do not choose an air aprt file. No choice at all. I close TT I open TT again, this time it does not ask for cid pw I choose the default air apt file it runs okay I close TT I re-open TT, it does not ask for the CID-PW This time I choose the KATL apt air file NO error, it works fine I closet TT I re open TT it runs okay again with the KATL files I tested this several times IT rund okay. LAter, I come back, run VRC on SB Open up TT It ask for the cid pw THis leades me to two conalusions. A.There may be a problem with the KATL air apt file B.IF ther "is " and eror in the apt air file, this causes the cdi pw to be kicked from the registry until I go throuight the above process in step 1 again I can duplicate the the above scenero , however, I do not see why or what maycause it to fail randomly. I will continuse with some more test d WWW.VATUSA.NET Previous Management New ATC Click Here http://flightsimx.cyclops.amnesia.com.au/index.html

Ross Carlson Posted December 18, 2006 at 03:35 PM Posted December 18, 2006 at 03:35 PM The settings are stored here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\TWRTrainer\Settings Take a look and see if you can figure out if the settings are being saved and/or deleted at some point.
