Deacon Barry 952424 Posted December 24, 2006 at 12:45 PM Posted December 24, 2006 at 12:45 PM Hello, Having seen some of the things that can be done with the [REGIONS] in .sct2 of VRC 1.1, I have been trying to create a .sct2 sector file for Edinburgh Radar (EGPH_APP) modelled on the real-world system they use (the RDS 1600 by Flight Refuelling). At the moment I have almost finished it, as you will be able to see from the first link below I have shaded in the Control Zones, Restricted Airspace and Dangerous Airspace. The last thing left to colour in is the land itself. I have had no problems with colouring in the small islands, but the mainland has presented a problem and I'm not sure why it's happening. This is what the .sct2 looks like so far: http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/1453/edinearlytherean7.jpg Anyway, I have tried to shade in the mainland using the regions, exactly as you would any other region, but it has not worked. Here is the bare geography for the mainland: http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/3863/edibaregeogrct3.jpg That is the exact same as the geography I'm using in the main sector file itself. As you can see, the shape is closed, so I don't see why it won't shade in I've done it the same way as I have all the others which worked fine. Any thoughts? Ross or anybody else if you want me to email the sector file I can Regards, Deacon
Man Hang Wong 974212 Posted December 24, 2006 at 02:36 PM Posted December 24, 2006 at 02:36 PM did you use OVERLAPPED regions? overlapped regions can cause rendering problems and only one region is displayed
Deacon Barry 952424 Posted December 24, 2006 at 03:06 PM Author Posted December 24, 2006 at 03:06 PM Man, Thanks for your response. Yes the regions overlapped in certain parts, but I did a couple of overlapping regions before which didn't cause problems. If this is the case, do you know how to get around this problem? Ross Carlson Posted December 24, 2006 at 07:55 PM Posted December 24, 2006 at 07:55 PM Overlapping should not be a problem. You might have to reverse the order of the regions in the file in order to get overlapping regions to display though. Deacon, have you tried reversing the order of the coordinates for the land region? Deacon Barry 952424 Posted December 24, 2006 at 09:50 PM Author Posted December 24, 2006 at 09:50 PM Ross, Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a go and get back to you. Although out of curiosity, how would it make a difference ?
Ross Carlson Posted December 24, 2006 at 10:06 PM Posted December 24, 2006 at 10:06 PM It shouldn't make a difference, but I confess I don't have a lot of experience with polygon rendering in OpenGL. I know the order of the points makes a difference sometimes, like when you are mapping a texture or a color, so it might make a difference here, but I'm not sure.
