Clif Maloney Posted September 1, 2021 at 12:13 PM Posted September 1, 2021 at 12:13 PM (edited) Apologies if previously addressed - I'm old and visually impaired. I recently acquired a MilViz FG-1D Corsair which doesn't appear to have a transponder. How will this work say...on a VFR flight with flight following to an air show meet-up somewhere? Or even operating within controlled airspace. Is there a way to manually punch in a squawk code when advised? Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted September 1, 2021 at 01:02 PM Board of Governors Posted September 1, 2021 at 01:02 PM Hello, Clif. Absolutely. Just use the transponder capability in your pilot client. Not sure which client you use, but in case you use vPilot, the documentation addresses how to do that. I imagine all clients' documentation do the same. Hope this helps. The vPilot documentation, Transponder section, can be found here: https://vpilot.rosscarlson.dev/Documentation#transponder Don Desfosse Vice President, Operations
Clif Maloney Posted September 1, 2021 at 08:40 PM Author Posted September 1, 2021 at 08:40 PM Thanks, Don. That info is helpful. However how does one set/change the code issued by ATC or an initial VFR code if there;s no add-on transponder?
Trevor Hannant Posted September 1, 2021 at 09:11 PM Posted September 1, 2021 at 09:11 PM In your pilot client, the command would be: .x 1234 The . at the beginning is necessary (not a typing error!) - change the digits to whatever you're given Of course, you could ask if you can simulate transponderless operations and give position reports etc - you may get a controller who'd on the ball and happy to assist!
