Changes to VATSIM’s Leadership

13 September 2021

The Board of Governors is pleased to announce the unanimous election of Tim Barber as President of the VATSIM effective 13 September 2021 for a two-year term.  Tim will be the seventh member to serve as President.

After serving two very successful terms as President, Gunnar Lindahl decided not to seek a third term.  Pursuant to VATSIM’s Code of Regulations, the President of VATSIM serves a two-year term after which the Board of Governors hold an election for who shall serve in this role for the next two-year term. The current president may be re-elected should they wish to run again.

Tim requires no introduction having served on various positions with VATSIM and on the Board of Governors; most recently as Vice President, Operations. He has worked as an ATPL pilot and now is in the real estate sector. Tim is a huge advocate for building on the success of our community and we are excited to see him in this role.

While stepping back from the President role, Gunnar will remain on the Board of Governors in an at large role until the next President is elected. We are glad to still have his experience on the BoG.

Gunnar and Tim both will be releasing letters about our upcoming transition within the coming days.
