Intermittent alias calculations

We use this alias to confirm contact with our neighbouring ARTCC before transfer. Sometimes it calculates the distance and bearing and sometimes it doesn't.

What could explain this intermittent behaviour when the ES settings themselves don't change from day to day.

It worked 72 hours ago, but not today.

.ho .msg $atccallsign($1) *** HANDOFF *** $aircraft is at $calt. From $uc($2), DIST $dist($2) BRG $bear($2), SQ $squawk.

$1 = controller code in list. $2 = navaid or waypoint
