Hi all, I have started up a new virtual airline based out of Tampa and with other hubs available as well. Currently hiring for Staff and pilots as well. we have a good sized fleet and it will grow as well as the route network. Currently two fleets are running being the main and express fleets, both under the callsign "Pirate". feel free to check it out

I wonder whether glorifying brutal robbery at sea would be considered bad taste on VATSIM...

The use of the word "pirate" doesn't exclusively refer to brutal robbery at sea. Take pirate radio as an example, which is an illegal radio transmission system to send radio signals in the broadcast band to a normally geographically restricted area. In cases like that, "pirate" refers merely to "illegal" and no one dies.

However, my own personal opinion of a virtual airline which subscribes to any meaning of the word "pirate" is to ignore the airline on the possibly mistaken assumption that it's creators may be just a little bit too immature for my personal tastes.

I wasn't being 100% serious, just wanted to point out that the name doesn't exactly ooze "realistic operations".

Also, side note, there's a huge missed opportunity here, could have gone for "Corsair"...

the virtual airlines was just a play on my love of the lore and history of the golden ages of sail and todays application of a lot of nautical like terms used in aviation. Also where i based the VA and its route network in the Caribbean inspired by the history as well.
