Tony Koch Posted August 7, 2022 at 05:00 PM Posted August 7, 2022 at 05:00 PM (edited) CZEG has created a new call sign to be used for Centre training. It combines the CYYC and CYEG terminal control areas under one call sign, CZEG_APP. It is not displaying in VatSpy, or on other online references. CYYC_APP and CYEG_APP are unchanged. Tony Koch Posted August 8, 2022 at 01:32 PM Author Posted August 8, 2022 at 01:32 PM I am the FE for CZEG. Map coordinates already exist for CYYC_APP and CYEG_APP. The new call sign, CZEG_APP, assumes both terminal areas and neither can be online at the same time. This is a Delivery Status Notification (DSN).I was unable to deliver your message to[email protected].I said RCPT TO:<[email protected]>And they gave me the error; 550-5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. Tony Koch Posted August 8, 2022 at 01:43 PM Author Posted August 8, 2022 at 01:43 PM The new call sign will be active coincident with the 2208 AIRAC update. CYYC_APP and CYEG_APP have been active for years.
Alex Ying Posted August 8, 2022 at 02:25 PM Posted August 8, 2022 at 02:25 PM As someone who has submitted updates before, I would either Fork the repo and submit a pull request with the modifications. This does require some git and github know-how, so it may not be the easiest thing to do if you're not familiar. Create an issue so that one of the maintainers can make the modifications for you. I would need to describe exactly what needs to be done to make it easier for them. That means describing where the map ring should be drawn, callsigns, radio/display name, etc. I don't know if anyone checks that email address even if it did work. Tony Koch Posted August 18, 2022 at 04:28 PM Author Posted August 18, 2022 at 04:28 PM Can the callsign descriptions/names be modified in Vatspy? The new callsign CZEG_APP is "Calgary-Edmonton Arrival". It is currently labelled "Calgary Approach/Departure" in Vatspy because it piggybacks on the CYYC_APP sector coordinates. Separately, in Canada the _APP callsign is referred to as Arrival rather than Approach. I can create an issue at Github but thought this space was a better first stop.
