Robert Marshall 995482 Posted January 27, 2007 at 08:26 PM Posted January 27, 2007 at 08:26 PM so my apologies in advance...Posting here also hoping a larger number of people may be able to offer a solution. Have an account and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word with the VATUSA academy. Had been trying to sign in to the above site for 2 weeks. Looks like the browser was going to sign-in then nothing. Have tried Netscape 7.2 and IE no joy. Both browsers have same problem. No connection. I tried at my office (IE) and viola worked like a charm. Came home and tried Opera browser and got in here also on the same machine that Nscpe and IE won't access from. Tried down loading Firefox and during install, without request it stole all of the setup info from Netscape and it doesn't work either. I have generally no problems with internet browsing with IE or Netscape. It appears to be something about those programs on MY computer and that site. I have run numerous AV and spyware programs, fixed the registry with 2 seperate programs and have generally made anyone I know who knows anything about computers crazy..AMD 2500+, 1GB ram, ATI 9550 video card, DSL connection with Yahoo/SBC. I hope this is a problem that someone here has encountered before and can remember what they did to correct it. Any help would be appreciated. I hope this is not too far off topic. I just want to complete the academy training and get in to the "real" virtual world and work with all of you as a controller. Thanks for your help. Robert Marshall 995482 Posted January 28, 2007 at 03:54 AM Author Posted January 28, 2007 at 03:54 AM told me to try to logon without the firewall so, with hands shaking, I shutdown ZoneAlarm and now it works. Hmmm. Opera worked through the same firewall, IE and Netscape don't. Any one have any ideas as to how to set up ZoneAlarm and use VATUSA too? Really had bad experiences when runing without a firewall and feel kind of NAKED without it. Again ANY help is appreciated.
Craig Moulton Posted January 28, 2007 at 06:17 PM Posted January 28, 2007 at 06:17 PM Try the firewall settings. It should allow you to set a site(s) as trusted. I haven't used zonealarm in years, so I really can't help much further than that. Fly Safe! Have Fun! Craig Moulton
Glenn Blanco 852844 Posted February 1, 2007 at 11:08 AM Posted February 1, 2007 at 11:08 AM ZoneAlarm? Is it good? I've heard nasty things about it. Anyhow, will it not let you get onto the site? That's too aggressive for a firewall.
