Correction to the above. ZOB will be hosting FNO at Pittsburgh (KPIT) and Allegheny County (KAGC).

The following is a supplement to the VATUSA FNO web page, not meant to replace it.

When: 0100Z - 0100Z (2000 EDT - 2200 EDT )

Where: Greater Pittsburgh International Airport (KPIT), Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Allegheny County (KAGC), Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Why: Friday Night Ops - http://fno.vatusa.org/index.php

Kick off the Superbowl weekend in style and visit the home of last year’s Superbowl champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

More information on virtual Pittsburgh ATCT (KPIT) and Cleveland ARTCC (KZOB) can be found at: www.zobartcc.org

We have flightplans for you! Visit www.simroutes.com ! Additional flightplans may be found at www.flightware.com and various other websites.

Weather outlook:

Light snow expected with light to moderate west winds. It appears the ceilings may be below VFR, but it’s too early to call.

Arriving at KPIT:

We ask that all pilots file and fly a STAR. The Pittsburgh area is served by four arrivals, all of which are simple pilot-nav STARs that can be flown with nothing more than the dual-VOR receivers required to fly IFR. A link to all STARs are below.

CUTTA TWO "Cut-ah" for arrivals from the northwest. Note the BSV transition is for use at or below 8000' only.

http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/pdfs/00570CUTTA.PDF

GRACE TWO "Grace" for arrivals from the northeast.

http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/pdfs/00570GRACE.PDF

NESTO TWO "Ness-Toe" for arrivals from the southeast.

http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/pdfs/00570NESTO.PDF

WISKE TWO "Whisky" for arrivals from the southwest. Note that the CKB transition is NOT to be filed.

http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/pdfs/00570WISKE.PDF

Pilots should expect visual approaches if the weather accomodates. Make sure you grab the ATIS off of the _TWR controller before you check in with your first APP or DEP controller. Inform PIT_APP or PIT_DEP that you do have the appropriate information code.

All charts for KPIT including instrument approach charts can be found here

All charts for KAGC including instrument approach charts can be found here

Departing from KPIT:

All aircraft should file a route which starts with a fix depicted on the Pittsburgh 7 departure chart. Pilots need not put PIT7 in the route section. The chart is available at:

http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/pdfs/00570PITTSBURGH.PDF

Pilots will be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned a departure heading to fly after completing the obstacle avoidance portion of the DP (climb on charted heading until p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing 1700' then fly the [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned heading).

Departing from KAGC:

All aircraft should file a route which starts with a fix depicted on the Allegheny 4 departure chart. The chart is available at:

http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/pdfs/00326ALLEGHENY.PDF

Pilots will be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned a departure heading to fly after completing the obstacle avoidance portion of the DP (climb on charted heading until p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing 1700' then fly the [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned heading).

If you have any questions, ask a controller! We would prefer you ask over the text channel or over voice (if there's enough space on the channel) rather than through private messages. We're more than happy to help!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. We hope to see you in the Pittsburgh area this Friday evening.

Lee Waldeck
