ServInfo (v2.00) makes a separate, slower Connection

When I run ServInfo, a second Internet Connection appears in the SysTray and cannot be disabled or deleted - even after shutting down ServInfo.

System info:

WinXP Home/SP2, completely patched up;

ServIfno, v20;

Wireless Router to Cable Modem.

This might be important:

When I first run ServInfo, there is no data displayed on Map, so I click the VATSIM button at top left to load data.

If I get an error to the affect that a server was not found and no data was loaded, I power-off-reset the Modem and load data again - which works.

Unfortunately, without rebooting the pc and going thru all this again, I cannot tell exactly when the second connection gets established.

Any ideas?

Dave

Are you running the latest (2.02)?

I had problems a few times with Servinfo and found that renaming the serinfo.ini file to a temporary name, then starting it would regenerate the defaults and my problem would be cured. I can then test between the two ini files to see which one is best. In most cases, I'll end up using the new ini file. Of course it takes me a long time to eventually get it customized again according to my preference.

For FSInn/VATSIM issues, please test the FSInn Installation sticky and linked FAQ. It really works!

I guess I wont mess with that, but thanks for the reply!

I've since discovered the connection is actually established when I reset the Router and/or connect the pc to the LAN/Router.

The thing that raised my concern here is the sudden appearance of a 2nd "network connection icon" in the Systray. I now suspect this connection has been here all along and simply showed up after I updated WinXP and Ie from 6 to 7!

In Control Panel > Network Connections, the 100Mbs conn is labelled LAN, while the 10Mbs one is labelled Internet Connection. Makes sense that all is normal and I simply hadn't noticed it before. Possibly, there is even a setting that hides that connection from being listed there - a setting that also got reset with the WinXp Updates.

Everything appears normal, FSInn and FSX/Del are working great together. Now, for a bazillion dollar pc that can handle the load of all they FSX Toys turned on!

Regards, All.

Dave
