Colson Root Posted December 20, 2022 at 03:08 AM Posted December 20, 2022 at 03:08 AM I just got into Vatsim a couple of weeks ago, and I have loved flying with it. I had one question that kept coming up that I couldn't find any answers to. I was at KMKE requesting IFR clearance. There was a Chicago Area Controller, but 2 different frequencies listed. CHI_75_CTR and CHI_81_CTR. Is there any way to tell which controllers airspace I am in, and who I'm supposed to contact? Also during the Milwaukee madness event, I departed MKE, and was told to contact Milwaukee Departure (no frequency given). There were 4 different approach controllers listed. MKE_W_APP, MKE_F_APP, MKE_I_APP, and MKE_E_APP.. How should I decide which to contact? Thanks in advance for the help.
Torben Andersen Posted December 20, 2022 at 09:03 AM Posted December 20, 2022 at 09:03 AM You can have a look at https://www.chicagoartcc.org/storage/files/vZAU Facility List_1650042669.pdf to see if it help. As for the freq for MKE dep, my best choise would be to look at the SID chart, where dep freqs are listed. Hopefully one of them matches the online presence. But being from Denmark an American controller could probably answer this better. Welcome to VATSIM. Alistair Thomson Posted December 20, 2022 at 01:58 PM Posted December 20, 2022 at 01:58 PM Not being given a frequency to contact is certainly strange. Doesn't ever happen in real world UK. Colson Root Posted December 20, 2022 at 02:14 PM Author Posted December 20, 2022 at 02:14 PM Thank you so much for the responses! I looked further into it and saw that I did receive a departure frequency in my IFR clearance. I must've forgotten it when I took off.
