Simon Pope Posted December 25, 2022 at 06:01 AM Posted December 25, 2022 at 06:01 AM (edited) Hi. I'm a new member and I am having problems getting started. I don't know the correct server IP/FQDN to connect on in vPilot. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Which brings me to the second problem... When I click on the Members->Getting Started (https://vatsim.net/pilots/getting-started/) it returns a 404 error. My assumption was that after I completed the orientation exam (I have), that I would find the information I need there. Help, please? Thanks and Happy Holidays! Simon Pope Posted December 25, 2022 at 06:22 AM Author Posted December 25, 2022 at 06:22 AM OK, so I was using the wrong client (there are like 6 different vPilot shortcuts one can press, and I chose poorly), so Problem #1 is solved. Problem #2 is still outstanding though.
Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted December 25, 2022 at 06:13 PM Board of Governors Posted December 25, 2022 at 06:13 PM Hello, Simon, 1. When you say "there are like 6 different vPilot shortcuts one can press", can you tell us where you are seeing that? From the Getting Started page (which I acknowledge you tried via my.vatsim.net and found a bad link - sorry!) at Home > Documentation > Getting Started the second section speaks to choosing a pilot client. It further links you to the Approved Software page, where only one link exists for vPilot. That said, I'd love to know where the "like 6 different vPilot shortcuts" are so we can get that cleaned up. 2. Thanks for pointing out the bad link. I see where you found it -- on my.vatsim.net -- I will have the tech guys fix that. The correct link is https://vatsim.net/docs/basics/getting-started which can be found off the VATSIM Home page Home > Documentation > Getting Started Link fix request sent to the my.vatsim dev team. Let's see if I get the fix as my Christmas present from them 🙂 Let us know on #1, thanks for asking the question, thanks for helping us get better, and all the best for safe, healthy and happy holidays! Simon Pope Posted December 26, 2022 at 09:57 AM Author Posted December 26, 2022 at 09:57 AM Thanks Dan! The vPilot shortcuts just install in the start menu (windows) thus (see attachment). Thank you for your help! Happy Holidays!
Simon Pope Posted December 26, 2022 at 09:58 AM Author Posted December 26, 2022 at 09:58 AM Ah, I think I see how you misunderstood me, and I you ... the six (ten?) links for vPilot are not ones from VATSIM, they are the shortcuts installed in Windows when you install vPilot. Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted December 26, 2022 at 03:20 PM Board of Governors Posted December 26, 2022 at 03:20 PM Gotcha. Yep, that's described in the vPilot documentation. For a standard (non-networked) user, you'd simply use the plain old vPilot application. But it looks like you've figured that out. Welcome aboard!
