Rich Smith 996041 Posted February 16, 2007 at 10:37 AM Posted February 16, 2007 at 10:37 AM Blah. Just got an email [0803Z, now 1035Z] about my account being changed to a Student (2) account.. When I went to log into ASRC with that credential, it told me the level I selected was 'Too high' and kicked me. Dear Rich Smith, This is an automated notice from the VATSIM central database. We have now received and processed an update to your VATSIM.net certificate. Your rating has been changed to Student (2). This change has been automatically sent to the network and you will be able to log-in at your new rating within one hour. Please contact your region if your new rating is not available to you within twelve hours. You should also contact your division or region if you are unsure why this ratings change has been made. That's the email I got; which makes me confused. Does it normally take the 12 hours; or is it within the hour as it says initially? Edit: I went over to VATSIM.net and checked my account status, this is what it had to say: 996041 Rich Smith [hidden]@verizon.net Student 2007-01-13 15:40:17 North America - United States Edit two [sheesh!]: It let me on as Student (1). Mike Evans Posted February 16, 2007 at 12:15 PM Posted February 16, 2007 at 12:15 PM 2 is the internal id for Student.. it's a confusing message.. just log on as Student 1 (which is actually internal id 2) and you'll be fine. Mike Evans
David Kluempers Posted February 17, 2007 at 06:50 AM Posted February 17, 2007 at 06:50 AM From what I have been able to determine the only valid ratings VATUSA members should use are Observer (OBS), Student 1 (S1), Student 3 (S3), Controler 1 (C1), Controller 3 (C3), Instructor 1 (I1) and Instructor 3 (I3). There may be others that I am not aware of but for the majority of VATUSA users those are the ones that should be used. The promotion to S2 is an automatic internal promotion that the system performs as is the promotion to S1 when you p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] the Academy Entrance Exam. All other promotion are all done by either the ARTCC staff or VATUSA staff and when we peform them we actually can only choose from the ones that I mentioned. No one holds the S2, C2, or I2 ratings. You go from S-1 to S-3, C-1 to C-3, and etc. The numbers in the parenthesis are not related to the number that follows the ranking name: "Student 1" or "S-1" is the rank, but the internal ID number for that rank, as Mike stated, is "2". There is nothing internally that will ever promote you to S-2, C-2, or I-2, unless those rankings are ever brought back. Steve Ogrodowski
