Justin Martin Posted February 16, 2007 at 04:32 PM Posted February 16, 2007 at 04:32 PM Howdy friends from South of the Border! Canadian Airlines Virtual is planning a group flight on March 03 2007, from Calgary to Reno/Tahoe Intl. We're just sending out preliminary feelers right now, trying to see what sort of ATC we can get/is available on that day. Our route will be taking us through the Edmonton, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Oakland ARRTCs. We expect a minimum of 5 people in the flight, so it's not a huge movement like Delta VA or something, however any staffing that you may have available, and the times when availible, would be appreciated as it would help me to plan the event time on my end. It would be of great help to have staffing of the Reno Appr position, as I know from experience, that the Reno arrival can be bit hairy So any help you can offer, I would appreciate! Thanks in Advance J. Martin Canadian Airlines Virtual Flycav.com

Tomas Hansson Posted February 16, 2007 at 05:43 PM Posted February 16, 2007 at 05:43 PM Depending on your flight plan, I don't think you will be touching much of Seattle airspace - if any. If you do, send an email to our Event Coordinator (events at seaartcc dot net) and I am sure we can staff Centre for you! Tomas Hansson
Justin Martin Posted February 16, 2007 at 06:03 PM Author Posted February 16, 2007 at 06:03 PM Ok, I triple checked. The route we are planning to fly is: CYYC YYC J537 REO J7 G[Mod - Happy Thoughts]I ANAHO2 KRNO Which, from what I can tell will take us through Seattle's airspace. Is this an appropriate routing? Chris McGee Posted February 16, 2007 at 06:49 PM Posted February 16, 2007 at 06:49 PM That's an approved routing into Reno with regards to current LOA's. But as stated in the prior post, I don't think your going to enter ZSE airspace. I'd get ahold of Oakland if you have a chance.
Justin Martin Posted February 16, 2007 at 06:54 PM Author Posted February 16, 2007 at 06:54 PM Yep, I sent out an email to OAK, seeing if they could provide ATC for this small event. I'm very happy with the support I've been getting already, it is much appreciated by all of us here at Canadian Airlines Virtual
Tomas Hansson Posted February 16, 2007 at 07:06 PM Posted February 16, 2007 at 07:06 PM Yep, you will be crossing the Eastern part of ZSE airspace. For about 240 miles or so... Drop us a note with a request for coverage and we'll try to have CTR up for you. Although there won't be much that we can do other than making sure you get en-route separation and the latest NHL scores! Tomas Hansson
Justin Martin Posted February 16, 2007 at 07:37 PM Author Posted February 16, 2007 at 07:37 PM and the latest NHL scores! It would seem that my reputation precedes me But don't downplay your role! It is absolutely vital that our Fokker 28 pilots get the latest scores, as the Aircraft have not been fitted with LiveTV (nor will they be) A Canadian without the NHL is not a good thing, keep us informed ZSE! Justin Martin Posted February 19, 2007 at 04:29 AM Author Posted February 19, 2007 at 04:29 AM Ok, I've been chatting a bit with out pilots, and we want to nail down a time for this event. We have two possibilities so far, the first is to make an afternoon jaunt at around 2~3 Pacific, the second is to go later at night, departing 6 Pacific. Is there a preference from the controllers of the different ARTCCs?
Justin Martin Posted March 2, 2007 at 01:39 AM Author Posted March 2, 2007 at 01:39 AM Allrighty, 12~1 in the afternoon PST will be our departure time. That's 1300MST, 1400CST, 1500EST. This seems to have worked out the best for the controllers and pilots involved. We'll appreciate any ATC we can get, and of course, any VA is more than welcome to join us for this hop. The more the merrier!
