Romano Lara Posted January 16, 2010 at 08:27 AM Posted January 16, 2010 at 08:27 AM I can't find the charts anywhere. I've been dying to get a chart for MTPP, it's really hard to maneuver into this airport especially for a pilot that is unfamiliar with the area. With all the mountains before joining the ILS/DME RWY 10 approach. Just earlier, I almost ended up burning in the mountains somewhere west of rwy 10 while breaking through the clouds. Unaware of the MSA, it's really difficult. So I disconnected the autopilot and hand flew the a/c away from the mountains then to join the ILS rwy 10. Jason Baxter 920557 Posted January 17, 2010 at 06:21 AM Posted January 17, 2010 at 06:21 AM Indeed Steve, I'm sure the lack of information has called for improvisation as does the actual situation. As of right now MTPP is being run non-radar, although a carrier full of helicopters and supplies is supposedly going to provide radar but the logistics of that are up in the air no pun intended. Jason Baxter 920557 Posted January 18, 2010 at 02:53 AM Posted January 18, 2010 at 02:53 AM The problem at the airport (irl) is/was being compounded by pilots cancelling IFR and going into PAP VFR so traffic couldn't be metered or spaced out until in the CTR which was being controlled from a vessel in the harbor. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted January 18, 2010 at 03:07 AM Posted January 18, 2010 at 03:07 AM also for the default scenery users, the ramp in FS is a lot smaller then the real world one. if i remember right from the scenery i was working on when Josh was FIR chief, i believe it was some like 100ft shorter in FS then the real one, somethin like that. thats just the main ramp. the east side GA and cargo area are way off, cargo area isnt even there in FS9
Mahmoud Fadli 819693 Posted January 19, 2010 at 02:50 AM Posted January 19, 2010 at 02:50 AM A great scenery for FS2004 can be found at http://www.flightsim.com under the filename of latvirt3.zip. I use it - it should also work in FSX too (though don't hold me to it!) - at least we'll have the same facility representation! Mahmoud A.
