Oren Geva 825051 Posted February 5, 2005 at 04:39 PM Posted February 5, 2005 at 04:39 PM (edited) I just wanted to share these with you, we had a controller exam Yesterday at VATSIM Israel, for the LLSD_TWR position (Sde Dov airport, Tel Aviv). I was [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ingned to cause an emergency during the exam while we invited the division pilots to try and stress the controller. My route was (if any of you know the CVFR procedures in use in Israel) LLHZ (Herzlia airport) - Arshaf - Country - touch and go in LLSD - Country - Yarkona - Segula - touch and go in LLBG (Ben Gurion INTL) - Segula - Geha - LLSD, and get an engine failure as I enter the pattern. I had strong west winds (240/20-33) which made part of this flight insane (A real cub would not fly inthis weather) but I had fun. The flight was online on vatsim, so all aircraft you see are real people coming to stress this LLSD controller. On the ground in LLHZ. Lined up to take off. Tel Arshaf - LLBG_APP trasfers me to LLSD_TWR. Touch and go in LLSD, you can see by the angle how I fought the winds. Touch and go. And we're out again while fighting the strong wind. P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed Yarkona, Segula, and I am approaching LLBG. Controller instructs me to enter a right base for rwy 30. The wind is preety much head on and the small piper won't go down... After touching I am over Segula junction again. P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed Geha, over the Ramat Gan stadium. The Yarkon Stream. LLSD_TWR instructs me to descend 800 and enter a right downwin rwy 21. After crossing the rwy line I called the engine failure. Unfortunantly I could take pictures over the next few moments as controlling th airplane in it's rapid descend with no engine and strong winds took all my attention. In this picture 4X-CHA is holding in the Banana waiting for my landing. Fighting the crosswind is very dificult with no engine, and I am pushed to the left side of the runway... But I manage to touchdown safely and stop on the right side of the runway. I can now say the controller was Johnatan Perlmuter, and he p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed the exam. Cheers!
