Philip Reynolds 828163 Posted December 3, 2004 at 12:19 AM Posted December 3, 2004 at 12:19 AM I am new to Vatsim, having been convinced at the Solihull Flight Sim Show last weekend. I have downloaded all the software, installed it all, but cannot seem to get the whole thing working. I have joined the Eurpean Region, UK Division. The order in which I run the software is as per VATSIM 103d for FS9. First it is the internet connection, then SBRelay, then FS9 , then Open Multiplayer Session using NEWBIE as my callsign, then I create a flight starting at EGNH, then HostSB, then Squawkbox. However, when I run Squawkbox and press OK on the "Locate Session" window, instead of finding SBRelay, it says it cannot find any games. Help!!!! Matt Stagg 900323 Posted December 3, 2004 at 12:23 AM Posted December 3, 2004 at 12:23 AM try this IP address 127.0.0.1 that may locate SBRealy and solve your problem... also do not have your callsign a newbie it doesnt allow that and make sure you fill out or required information suck as your name and VATSIM ID & P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]owrd... Oh yes make sure you connect FS9 to SBRealy as well!!!! Happy Flying Cheers, Matt Stagg Boeing 737NG Pilot VOZ Virtual

Lennart Vedin Posted December 3, 2004 at 09:38 AM Posted December 3, 2004 at 09:38 AM Hi Samuel. I think you must read and follow all detailes for "VATSIM 103 - VATSIM Software Setup" at http://www.vatsim.net/prc if you havn't already. Say again if you can't get it. You need to buy nothing to enjoy VATSIM. Lennart Vedin SAS202 / Lennart Vedin /
Lluis del Cerro 810821 Posted December 3, 2004 at 09:56 AM Posted December 3, 2004 at 09:56 AM Hi all, The process I follow to log in using FS2004 is the following (doing it as I remember; no paper here ): 1. Running internet connection 2. Run SBRelay 3. Run FS2004 and place my aircraft in the terminal (never in a runway). 4. Create a Multiplayer session and join it 5. Run SBHost, enlarge its window and move it to my second monitor. 6. Run "SquawkBox Main program" 7. Type my callsign 8. Click on "TCP/IP ..." 9. Click on start search 10. Click on Join 11. SquawkBox opens and click on its button. 12. Open the menu and select "squawk stand by" 13. Click on "Connect", select the appropiate fields and go! I recommend you to follow the Pilot Resource Center tutorial 103d for this and also the use of the VATSIM Flight Plan Prefile system (http://www.vatsim.net/fp). There's also a tutorial at the PRC about how to use it. Samuel Gomez Recuero 90984 Posted December 3, 2004 at 02:30 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 02:30 PM Hi Samuel. You need to buy nothing to enjoy VATSIM. Lennart Vedin SAS202 Yes, I did read that. the problem is that the link on the prc 103a is not working, it returns a 404. And that took me to getting the wrong file from the squwakbox site. After doing a search on google, which I should have done in the first place, the correct link turned out. The link for AVC has moved to http://downloads.xsquawkbox.net/setup.exe . The main site (AVC site) just in case you also want to added to the docomeentation is located at http://www.cjserio.com/vc/ I hope this info can get corrected on the basic training pages to help other newbies coming in on this ever growing community. Lennart Vedin Posted December 3, 2004 at 03:14 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 03:14 PM > After doing a search on google, which I should have done in the first place OK you right, links in docomeentation usually goes out of date. Follow instruction in "VATSIM 103 - VATSIM Software Setup", not the links. If any problem, write this forum again. The updated links could be found at http://www.vatsim.net/ -> Pilot Software. All needed software is there in one merged zip file. However, fine that you found a solution. Lennart Vedin SAS202 / Lennart Vedin /
Samuel Gomez Recuero 90984 Posted December 3, 2004 at 03:44 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 03:44 PM Thanks Lennart I will follow your advide and redownload the files from the last link. I know with a site this active is hard to keep all docomeentation current. Maybe this could be something that could be added to the FAQ page. Mind you that with this already here those making a search will find it anyways. Once again thanks for your time. This is a great place to be.
