William Ezzell 942477 Posted March 27, 2007 at 04:17 PM Posted March 27, 2007 at 04:17 PM Hey guys, I am not new to VATSIM; however, I have only flown the LDS 767 on VATSIM though, so loading flightplans, SIDs and STARs was very simple through my FMS. Autotuning while manually flying the approaches was a great way to learn, and then manually flying the approaches while tuning the vors etc myself was an even greater learning experience. Whichever way I chose to execute an approach or departure, I always had the procedure loaded into my fms for reference at least. I recently purchased a new machine, FSX and Vista, so I am stuck with default a/c until LDS, DF, PMDG, etc releases a/c for FSX. Call me an amateur, idiot, whatever it may be, but what is the best way to load a STAR or SID in a Garmin system? I feel so stupid for asking but I want to get back on VATSIM very badly, but I dont want to flie a plan without a clue on how to load them for reference. Any help would be great. Thanks again, William
Norman Blackburn Posted March 27, 2007 at 04:39 PM Posted March 27, 2007 at 04:39 PM William, In the interim you could use the excellent VAS FMC. Whilst it isn't a serious contender to a full blown FMC as can be found on most decent addons, it does allow you to have a route like you are used to being displayed on a navigation display. I used it extensively during FSX testing. Norman
Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted March 31, 2007 at 04:39 PM Board of Governors Posted March 31, 2007 at 04:39 PM Unless I misunderstand your question you can load the flight route waypoint by waypoint into the FS Flight Planner which will then display it on the GPS screen and fly it if Autopilot is tuned to GPS and NAV functions. Ryan Strad 827369 Posted April 7, 2007 at 03:55 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 03:55 PM I suggest you buy http://www.fsnavigator.com/ - There is a free trial if you'd like to try it out. It works basicly the same as a GPS but is much easier to program, use and read. You can then just look up charts at myairplane.com and plug them into FSNavigator!
