VATNZ NOTAM 31MAR07 12:00 UTC

Notification of New Zealand UNICOM Frequency and Voice Room

31 March 2007

1. INTRODUCTION

In order to improve safety and enhance awareness by pilots flying Outside of Controlled Airspace (OCTA) in New Zealand, VATSIM New Zealand (VATNZ) have implemented a Standard Set of Voice Rooms to be tuned to by pilots flying in New Zealand Airspace. This has been set up having taken FSInn's auto-tune facility into consideration.

2.0 NZZC NEW ZEALAND DOMESTIC FIR

Pilots flying in the NZZC DOMESTIC FIR who are not under the control of an online ATC Position shall tune to the VATSIM UNICOM Frequency of 122.80 and set their private voice room in Squawkbox, XSquawkbox, FSInn or any other VATSIM approved Pilot Client to rw1.vatpac.org/unicom_nzzc.

2.1 NZZO NEW ZEALAND OCEANIC FIR

Pilots flying in the NZZO OCEANIC FIR who are not under the control of an online Oceanic ATC Position shall tune to the VATSIM UNICOM Frequency of 122.80 and set their private voice room in Squawkbox, XSquawkbox, FSInn or any other VATSIM approved Pilot Client to rw1.vatpac.org/unicom_nzzo.

2.2 TRANSMITTING INTENTIONS

As not all pilots are voice capable, the preferred method of communication on a UNICOM frequency is text, complimented with voice so that all pilots are aware of the intentions of other pilots in their vicinity.

3.0 CANCELLATION

This NOTAM remains in effect PERMANENTLY unless superseded by subsequent NOTAMS.
