Johnny Coughlan Posted March 31, 2007 at 10:33 PM Posted March 31, 2007 at 10:33 PM the info page is not loading just remains a blank white screen, all other options work (online/route/book)
Michal Rok Posted March 31, 2007 at 10:35 PM Posted March 31, 2007 at 10:35 PM Known problem discovered by one of beta testers. Check if your internet security programs allow vroute.info to access the internet. Michal vroute.net founder
Stephen Donnelly Posted April 1, 2007 at 12:28 AM Posted April 1, 2007 at 12:28 AM Only way I can workaround this is to open the port manually, can you tell me which port(s) vroute and in particular the info pages use? Cheers, and great program! Stephen Donnelly CTR+
Frank Julsing 987936 Posted April 1, 2007 at 04:07 AM Posted April 1, 2007 at 04:07 AM Same here. No firewall or antivirus used at all! UPnP ADSL modem. Thanks, Frank Have a nice day
Michal Rok Posted April 1, 2007 at 05:15 AM Posted April 1, 2007 at 05:15 AM There's no special port to be activated - it's plain HTTP on port 80. You just need to look at your firewal tool and ensure it allows vroute.info to access the internet. Last time we had this problem it was Norton Internet Security. Gregory Portokalakis 99932 Posted April 1, 2007 at 03:09 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 03:09 PM I have a worst problem. No one of the buttons doesnt work.(info-online-route-book) It seems that i get a temporary picture of how the menu is after 3-4 seconds of loading, but then i get an error.(the same error if as you try to access the net without connection) I would say that it is a router or connection or antivirus-firewall problem, but i get the same even and in the modules that dont need internet connection. Anyway, i am allways connected to the web.. Any advice would be great. P.S=(sorry for spamming the thread, but it seems that the problems are near)
Craig Moulton Posted April 1, 2007 at 04:19 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 04:19 PM So what is the solution for Norton users? Did the beta testers find out how to make this work? I've tried every trick I can think of, but so far nothing, short of turning off the firewall, works. Fly Safe! Have Fun! Craig Moulton
Craig Moulton Posted April 1, 2007 at 05:58 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 05:58 PM And to add to this, what is so different about the info page that doesn't allow us Norton Users to view anything, while all the other pages work perfectly? Michal Rok Posted April 1, 2007 at 06:10 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 06:10 PM The online page uses an XML transformation routine that no other page uses. Since one beta tester reported that problem as fixed and attributed to Norton Internet Security pop-up blocker, I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]umed its the same for everyone. If you say you disabled all pop-up and firewall programs and it still did not help, please post some basic info about your system (OS, IE version, any firewall/security programs you use) and let's see if there's something in common for all people experiencing the same problem. Craig Moulton Posted April 1, 2007 at 06:32 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 06:32 PM Okay, though I'm not really happy about having to turn off the Norton Pop-Up Blocker, doing so has solved this issue. If there is anything that can be done to enable this page/info while still maintaining the pop-up blocker, I'd be very grateful for that info. I've tried a variety of ways to allow pop-ups for a variety of vroute.net addresses with no luck. Fly Safe! Have Fun! Craig Moulton
Stephen Donnelly Posted April 1, 2007 at 06:33 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 06:33 PM OK, the info page still not working. I'm running Windows XP SP2, IE7, Norton Internet Security Suite 2005. Port 80 is in the list in my Firewall settings. I've also allowed the program unrestricted access to the internet, but still no luck short of disabling my firewall completely. Which in itself isn't much of a problem, but it'd nbe nice to find a workaround. Okay, though I'm not really happy about having to turn off the Norton Pop-Up Blocker, doing so has solved this issue. Craig Moulton Posted April 1, 2007 at 07:00 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 07:00 PM The problem is no mystery now, it is Norton's Pop Up Blocker. Disabling it works. The goal now is to find what else can be done to get around it so that I don't have to be bombarded by annoying pop-ups from sites other than my trusted list. Fly Safe! Have Fun! Good man - youve narrowed this down for me. All you have to do to avopid popups is use Firefox 2 with the Adblock Pkus extension and i guyarentee 99.999% of popups will instantly dissapear. www.getfirefox.com Stephen Donnelly CTR+
Michal Rok Posted April 1, 2007 at 07:55 PM Posted April 1, 2007 at 07:55 PM Do you get pop-ups if you use IE6/7 plain standard pop-up blocker? For me it is perfectly sufficient. Also, honestly speaking I have no clue why Norton pop-up blocker interferes with the start page. It injects some javascript into the page, but somehow this routine is flawed and affects the website operation. Any javascript experts around? Andrew Templeton 1004354 Posted April 4, 2007 at 11:09 AM Posted April 4, 2007 at 11:09 AM Is there a particular address that Vroute uses to connect to the internet. If is there a chance that you could remove it from the blocked HTML strings. This could then allow the info page on Vroute to come up. This is just an idea because I have the same problem. Thanks, Andrew
