Mahmoud Fadli 819693 Posted April 8, 2007 at 07:59 PM Posted April 8, 2007 at 07:59 PM Amman, Jordan – After what is perceived by many as an unusually long period of silence from the company, airline CEO Mahmoud Fadli opened the doors of the company's Amman Headquarters to the press for the first press release in over three months. The airline, now beginning to show increased activity according to some, is hinting at a possible one-month time line before the start of operations; however nobody has been quoted as officially giving that time. Website Development After a month of secrecy, Arabian Airlines has finally released the identity of the coder behind the scenes at the company. Fadli took the time to carefully illustrate the system's features before releasing the name of the coder, telling reporters that the new system will be "more than adequate for the needs of Arabian Airlines and our p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]engers," continuing to say that it "will offer our staff and crews unlimited flexibility in the way we manage our flights and administrative duties." Other features, Fadli said, would not be released until after the airline launches operations. Coder's name released Arabian Airlines released the identity of the airline's coder, with Fadli telling reporters that "Arabian has entrusted itself to Mr. James Norman, someone who we see as extremely talente and professional… we know we will not be disappointed with his work for us." The agreed timeframe, price, and other details are not being released at this time. Livery Changes Arabian Airlines has announced that it has altered its English textual logo, using a newer, more professional looking font. The new logo is larger, and more "billboard" according to some. When asked, Fadli told reporters that the new logo was "more aesthetically pleasing to the eye and gave the scheme more of a flow to it than before." The new English textual tiles will be placed on all aircraft in the fleet over the next year. New Aircraft Arabian Airlines has officially sent a letter of intent to Airbus Industries, declaring the intent to order an unspecified number of A330-200s and A320s to help meet the airline's needs over the next year and a half. The move has resulted in Arabian's agreement, through side negations with Airbus, to lease an unspecified number of MD-11s to cover routes to be flown by the incoming A330-200s. The MD-11s are expected to be in service for about a year. Furthermore, airline CEO Mahmoud Fadli hinted at the possibility that the airline would consult Boeing on the purchase of 747-400Ds, the domestic, short range version of the history Boeing 747 line of aircraft. The 747-400 Domestic would have a range of roughly 1,300 nautical miles and, according to Fadli, be the "perfect replacement for our sole 747-300 that we use heavily on routes to Jeddah both during the Hajj Season and year round." The airline's sole 747-300 was used on routes to Jeddah for Hajj and Umrah, the Muslim pilgrimages that attract vast amounts of traffic to the region at certain times in the year. The new aircraft would be used on charter flights as well as on dedicated Hajj and Umrah services. The airline's management, however, did not release any more details about the order. TravelerMagazine Goes Automated The airline's TravelerMagazine has received a complete overhaul with regards to web design. The Magazine, now run on the free Mambo CMS, is now completely automated, making it more enjoyable for users as well as easier for editors to update on a continual basis. The airline is currently looking for magazine submissions for both the website and the PDF magazine. More to come soon. Mahmoud A.
