Kyle Sipples 932159 Posted April 10, 2007 at 01:06 PM Posted April 10, 2007 at 01:06 PM It's getting time for me to upgrade my old workhorse of a computer. I'm running FS2002, although I own FS2004. My computer struggles enough as it is with FS2002. I have absolutely no desire to run FSX. From what I've read, it's just not practical on my budget. So here is the question... To run FS2004 well, should I get a Core 2 Duo or stick with a regular Pentium? I'm not sure if a Core 2 Duo would make things slower, since FS is not coded for a dual core chip. I'd like to stick to the $1200 range. Can I actually get a computer for this price that will run FS2004 with sliders set towards the higher end? I've always stayed one version behind, and have never been disappointed. I just want to make sure that I can run FS2004 with some nice eye candy, or it really isn't worth the upgrade. Why pay $1,200 dollars to upgrade from FS2002 to FS2004 if the graphics aren't going to be much different? Thanks!
Alan Withers 923603 Posted April 10, 2007 at 02:13 PM Posted April 10, 2007 at 02:13 PM I alternate between FS2002 and FS2004 on an 'old' PC, and FS2004 on a newer laptop. I get far more grief with FS2004 than I ever expected, and performance of FS9 on both is sluggish - online or offline. I would not touch FSX with a bargepole. YMMV. I get 180 FPS when unlocked, but i have the FPS locked at 30fps. Well this is my recomendation.
