Kyprianos Biris Posted April 26, 2007 at 05:15 PM Posted April 26, 2007 at 05:15 PM (edited) The title may sound funny if you think about jet speeds. The title may sound funny if you think about flights in VATSIM. No, I did it in real and in a General Aviation aircraft last weekend The longest weekend trip I've ever flown. Two time zones in one day's GA flying. Athens LGMG - Kerkira LGKR 1:30 (the day before) Kerkira LGKR - Cannes LFMD 4:50 Cannes LFMD - Stapleford EGSG 4:40 Stapleford EGSG - Shoreham EGKA - Bournemouth EGHH (the next two days) 1:10 Total distance: 1600 nm All of the route was flown at FL120 with crystal clear weather without considerable headwinds. Abeam the Alps, N of Cannes, we met some high climbing TCU's and asked for a small diversion off PERUS SID track to avoid. The pictures album : http://hellasga.com/gallery/kyp?page=5 Album: "Athens to London flight" (bottom left) I have uploaded the Flight Plans to VROUTE if anybody is interested in flying them Edited April 28, 2007 at 12:08 PM by Guest Hellenic vACC | Olympic Air Virtual Europe Region Director 2001-2011 Pilot: P5 | ATC: C3
Alberto Molteni 915217 Posted April 26, 2007 at 06:40 PM Posted April 26, 2007 at 06:40 PM Very nice Kyp. A few things I particularly liked: - Oxygen supply, never saw that system before - SMS advising delay - Your instrument panel - looks neat, tidy and easy to read - WIP on 16L, LIRF Oh BTW, you didn't empty "Little John" over Rome, did you? Had to ask, due to the sequence of your pictures Alberto Molteni

Had to ask, due to the sequence of your pictures O2 : Yeap, required over FL120 but for long periods over FL110 it is highly advisable to use it; you feel the difference in the end of the day. The system is this one: http://www.mhoxygen.com/index.phtml?nav_id=28&product_id=1&photo_id=0 and the one you see in the nose is this: http://www.mhoxygen.com/index.phtml?nav_id=28&product_id=27 which consumes much less O2 then the normal mask. SMS: Service provided by www.homebriefing.com payware service for pilots. Saves you going up and down in the airport to file the FPL and keeps you advised of any CTOT [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment/changes. It has a free trial period. Beware ! not to send a (real) FPL by experimenting with it. Ins. panel : That's Socata's excellent job back from the late 80's. It'll change (to better) in the coming month. The ferry flight to Bournemouth was so that it goes to www.airtimeaviation.com to have a mid-life upgrade with complete Garmin GNS530/430 stack, ModeS transponder, Stormscope and propably (it's on our budget limit ) a TCAS. After that it will be stripped down and repainted like this: http://www.jetphotos.net/showphotos.php?regsearch=PH-GRP Edited April 27, 2007 at 04:43 PM by Guest Hellenic vACC | Olympic Air Virtual Europe Region Director 2001-2011 Pilot: P5 | ATC: C3

Thanks for sharing the trip. Thanks George; yes It's a 1996 second hand model we bought 3 years ago and the previous owner had chosen this paint scheme. I and the other 2 coowners chose this one instead since we're going for a new repaint. Alberto Molteni 915217 Posted April 27, 2007 at 05:08 PM Posted April 27, 2007 at 05:08 PM Thanks for the details. I fully agree on the change of paint scheme, old one is good but the new one is terrific! Interested in seeing pictures once it's done.
