Brian Beach 915973 Posted May 5, 2007 at 12:01 PM Posted May 5, 2007 at 12:01 PM Could you make it so that vroute recognizes the new Voice ATIS callsigns and adds them to the list of controllers at a certain airport? Also, could you make it so it shows on the map that a facility has an ATIS running? Thanks Michal! Michal Rok Posted May 5, 2007 at 01:29 PM Posted May 5, 2007 at 01:29 PM Can do. But I need some more thinking about how to show the data. Since voice ATIS is per airport, and not per controller, it's not a perfectly good idea to show it next to the controller. The idea to show it on the map (only?) sounds good - not sure if we need to show ATIS frequency too? Your thoughts please? Brian Beach 915973 Posted May 5, 2007 at 02:06 PM Author Posted May 5, 2007 at 02:06 PM Well, each ATIS is a different connection (called XXXX_ATIS, where XXXX is the airport ICAO), basically like another controller. You could have it appear as a separate controller in the list, and just show an ATIS symbol next to the airport on the map. Michal Rok Posted May 5, 2007 at 04:06 PM Posted May 5, 2007 at 04:06 PM That wouldn't be too cool, would it? Michal vroute.net founder
Martin Loxbo Posted May 6, 2007 at 12:01 AM Posted May 6, 2007 at 12:01 AM I imagine that almost every airport which has ATIS in real life and which has ATC services online will also have voice ATIS from now on. So I don't really see the need to indicate this in any special way. It kind of reminds me of the old days where just having voice was considered special so we had the V in the middle of the callsign... Andras Kiss 888081 Posted May 6, 2007 at 02:01 AM Posted May 6, 2007 at 02:01 AM Well if its a center that is serving 4-5 majour airports then there will only be one of those with a voice atis. So I still see the need. Andras Kiss NYARTCC Controller 3, NYARTCC Mentor NYARTCC [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istant Webmaster
Ross Carlson Posted May 6, 2007 at 02:58 AM Posted May 6, 2007 at 02:58 AM I agree it would be nice to see some visual indication of which fields have an active voice ATIS. Though it's certainly not as important as seeing which fields have a TWR controller, etc. Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
