Karen Dunbar 1002434 Posted May 20, 2007 at 04:51 PM Posted May 20, 2007 at 04:51 PM During the FNO Visits Music City in Nashville, TN (KBNA), the lines of traffic were flowing like new tunes out of the Nashville music industry. The real grace note in the performance was a masterful double simultaneous approach orchestrated by the BNA_APP guys. The late night reviews used phrases like “Tremendous Job†Karen Dunbar Events Director VATUSA
Alan Hensley 950569 Posted May 20, 2007 at 07:31 PM Posted May 20, 2007 at 07:31 PM I want to THANK EVERYONE for their participation in the FNO. As usual "Murphy's Law" kicked in when my westside approach/departure partner's computer crashed, (probably bad choice of words for aviation, sorry, lol). All of a sudden I was the only Nashville approach/departure controller online. EEEEEEEE!! HA!!. Some of you got the grand tour of the countryside of Tennessee, (hell, a few I think saw Indiana on the horizon), while I was trying to figure out what was going on. But "we" got it done. That was one of the most professional group of pilots, simulated or real world, I have ever controlled. It was the most fun I have had since, once in Dayton, the old IBM computer system used with our ARTS IIIA went down and we had to revet to non-radar seperation. I am PROUD of each of you. A couple of your voices or callsigns I recognized but most due to the situation I didn't. A couple of times I had to just speak in plain language, throwing phraseology out the window temporarily, but again, EVERYONE responded in a way that turned a possible fiasco into a major success. Reminds me of the time as a kid when my dad lost control of our car on a snow covered road and we ended up doing "donuts" and then ended up in the ditch. My 5 year old little brother says "Daddy, that was fun. Can we do that again??"
