Mark Richards Posted June 24, 2007 at 02:18 AM Posted June 24, 2007 at 02:18 AM VATNZ is very pleased to announce that we are now providing weather data to the VATSIM network for thirty-three regional NZ airports. This change has been a long time coming, and is the result of contributions from a number of people. The primary source of weather data is Airways Corporation's IFIS system which provides us with the current real-world METARs for a number of NZ airports. This data is augmented with reports from VATNZ member Richard Greaney's script that uses publicly available weather information to provide METAR reports for a number of additional fields. The script that brings it altogether is hosted here in New Zealand, courtesy of Tim Johnston, and was incorporated into the VATSIM network through the efforts of the VATSIM Network Team. The extent of our new weather reporting coverage is shown on the VATNZ Weather page on the VATNZ website.
