Jesse Angulo 1008083 Posted June 27, 2007 at 04:08 AM Posted June 27, 2007 at 04:08 AM Hello everyone. I am having a problem with my FS9. Ok well originally I was using FSX and I was able to log and see other aircraft around me. However since FSX doesn't have that many add ons yet I decided to switch to FS9. Ok well now I could log into VATSIM and I can talk to everybody, other aircraft, ATC's, however I can't see anybody. I am using a Dell computer with windows Vista and McAfee antivirus. I have tried shutting down the Firewall and everything, but nothing works. Also when I click on the Players list in the FSInn control panel, I can see all the players name that are on-line, however when I used FSX the arrows next to the Players names were lit blue. And now the arrows still light up blue however they are flashing. They go from blue to grey. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me. Thanks for all your help guys. Gabriel Adei Posted June 27, 2007 at 05:41 PM Posted June 27, 2007 at 05:41 PM First thing you shd ask urself is, is there any one park at the same airport I am parked? U can find that out with Servinfo or Vroute. People on vatsim does not necessarily mean they are where u r. There might be flying in EU while u r in the US per se. Also note that FS9 shows only planes that are within 10nm. So if the other planes around u r more then 10nm then u cant see them. check these and u shd be fine. I can understand what you mean, and it makes perfect sense. That's mainly because English is my first language, and it can sound out, while readying your text, the equivalent words. A lot of our 100,000 VATSIM users have other languages as their first language. Some of them use tools such as Google's translator to read some of the threads. Those people would be lost in trying to figure out what you mean. You might consider installing Firefox, it has a built in dictionary that will help you with the words that you can't spell. This would help your quality tech support to be beneficial to more people when they are doing research. -- L. James -- L. D. Gabriel Adei Posted June 27, 2007 at 11:29 PM Posted June 27, 2007 at 11:29 PM Larry, I am not sure if this is an admonishment or something you could have really just asked for me to proof read my thread before posting. If it was this simple then I did not need the sacarsm in your reply. We are here to be a community that enjoy a common hobby and help each other enjoy our hobby. I meant no harm with my reply as all can see and I as well did not need your sacarstic tone in just a simple correction. I am no high tech, all i do is help with what worked for me when I was new to Vatsim a few months ago. I wonder which words could I not spell correctly? Or the simple fact that I use some form of short hand in my thread is the sore point. I might have made some grammatical errors here and there but we are not here to learn the english language (excuse me fellas). I am sure if any one read this and found it to be giberish they might simply reply to ask for more clarification like we have all done before even if the thread carried the perfect spell checked english. Writing your thoughts might not come out as clear as saying your thoughts and I am not the only guilty party in this. On that note Jesse if you did not understand my thread I can resend it. As if by some divine scheme, I just flew online today for my VA. All connection to the network was nice and dandy. Both multiplayer and Vatsim connected smoothly like I have done always. However I did not show up on Vroute nor did I show on Servinfo and I could not see anyone nor could anyone responed to my private messages.. However I showed up perfectly on my VA's tracking system. I gotta figure that one out.
Larry James 901346 Posted June 28, 2007 at 12:03 AM Posted June 28, 2007 at 12:03 AM Gabriel, I mentioned your message was clear to me. However, most of the words you used were not in the English dictionary, as you know. I didn't realize from reading the other message that you could spell. That's why I suggested that you might consider using Firefox that would help you with the words. Again, as before, your message is very clear. The other message was clear to me, as I mentioned, because I could figure out what you meant. I gave you a suggestion, not meaning to be rude, that would provide that more people would be able to appreciate the wisdom of your tech support. Of course you can type the way you want to, with little consideration for the wide variety of people reading the treads for support. I'm sure it wasn't your deliberate intention to leave others out who doesn't have English as their first language, but you leave them out when very little of the text you use is in the dictionary. If you were using some instant messenger program with peers, that's one thing. But you might just consider (if you want to) that our community as a whole, loses out when a lot of people can't decipher what you have to say. I'm sure the one posting the original message could easily decipher your text. Reading his message, it appears that English is his first language. There are many who don't post a lot, but scour the forums for resolutions to their problems. So the next guy with the same question might loose out if they had to use a translation tool. Your message would hardly port. I'm trying to be careful in my tone as not to sound sarcastic or offending in any way. I just though I'd share what I thought would be a helpful suggestion for you to consider, so that more could fuller appreciate what you have to say... just as I did in your first message. -- L. Gabriel Adei Posted June 28, 2007 at 12:26 AM Posted June 28, 2007 at 12:26 AM Roger that Larry, no hard feelings, no offense taken now that I actually understand where you were coming from. No more short hand for me. Full hand all the way. Cheers pal.
