Eddie House 810125 Posted June 30, 2007 at 06:36 PM Posted June 30, 2007 at 06:36 PM Hi everyone, I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I installed FSX with no problems, but when I go to run it I get this message: "The MSXML4 SP2 component is not installed. Please reinstall Flight Simulator to restore or repair this missing component." I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I have tried the repair feature. I have made sure my XP Pro has all the lastest updates. I have downloaded MSXML4 from microsoft and manually installed it. I have manually installed the version of MSXML4 on DISC 2 of FSX. I am out of ideas. The only thing I haven't done is gone into the registry and deleted entries having to do with MSXML, I'm a little leary to do that. I don't want to cause more problems than I have. I just wondered if anybody had a good solution to this problem. Once again Microsoft drops the ball on something. Thanks, Ed
Larry James 901346 Posted July 1, 2007 at 03:10 PM Posted July 1, 2007 at 03:10 PM I had that error during a few of my installs in the past. The remedy was to install it from the disk (as I see that you said you did). I never attempted to run FSX on my recent installs before installing SP1. I haven't gotten that problem on any of the recent installs. Did you try continuing to install SP1, then trying to run FSX? Sort of a shot in the dark, but there's a chance SP1 might do some type of pertinent repair or update. -- L. James -- L. D. Eddie House 810125 Posted July 2, 2007 at 01:11 PM Author Posted July 2, 2007 at 01:11 PM Thanks for the reply. I did go ahead and install SP1 for FSX before I tried to run it. It didn't seem to make any difference though. I found a solution for now. I just installed FS9 and am using that again hehe.
