Chuck Dreier 828198 Posted July 7, 2007 at 09:57 PM Posted July 7, 2007 at 09:57 PM I'm having problems with my computer locking up after some time (maybe an hour or so) when using SB3 on FS9. My computer is a P4, with 2048 RAM and 256Mb video card (nVidia). Everything runs fine normally, but something with SB3 seems to be causing the lockup. I've read that placing SB3 on another computer and running it through WideFS will make a great deal of difference. My question is this: Can this be done running SB3 on my notebook which is connected through a wireless router, and if so, does the headset, etc. work through the notebook or my main (FS9) computer? Thanks!!!
Norman Blackburn Posted July 7, 2007 at 10:43 PM Posted July 7, 2007 at 10:43 PM Chuck, The headset plugs into the machine running SB3 so in this case, the laptop. It doenst matter if it is wired or wireless. Norman
Chuck Dreier 828198 Posted July 7, 2007 at 11:47 PM Author Posted July 7, 2007 at 11:47 PM Norman, Thanks. I have installed WideFS and SB on both the server & client computers, but can't get a connection. 'WideClient FS98 Elimator' says it is connected (its has been registered on the server computer w/FS9), but Squawkbox running on the laptop (client) says it is unable to establish a connection with a running copy of flight simulator. Any ideas? Thanks.
Lennart Vedin Posted July 8, 2007 at 06:47 AM Posted July 8, 2007 at 06:47 AM I think WideFS only search local network at default 192.168.0.xxx (i.e. 256 search), else address are required to set by hand. Look your PC IP-addresses. You may try set your PC's to static address and/or set WideFS IP-address by hand for connecting. Look your FS PC current IP-address, and the WideFS ini-file. You can try your PC-connection without any FS-software by Start > Run > cmd (a black command-window open). Then type ping . Try from the SB3-PC to type the FS-PC IP-address. This will just indicate if you have any connection with the PC's and what IP-address. It is also possible you have a firewall issue in the wireless router or yout PC's.
