Max Kilibarda 1017018 Posted July 10, 2007 at 06:43 PM Posted July 10, 2007 at 06:43 PM Hi all, I'm new to the VATSIM network and online flying and I'm planning on downloading FSInn because I've heard you need a pilot client to fly on VATSIM servers with ATC. I was wondering exactly what a pilot client lets you do and is it necessary to to get FSCopilot? What does FSCopilot do? Any info or explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Max
Larry James 901346 Posted July 10, 2007 at 08:06 PM Posted July 10, 2007 at 08:06 PM A pilot client allows you to connect to the VATSIM network. Once connected to the VATSIM network you have access to its resources, such as flying online with hundreds of other pilots under the control of hundreds of air traffic controllers. The procedures are listed in the PRC ( www.vatsim.net/prc ). FSInn is one of the pilot client packages (mentioned in the PRC) that (again) allows you to connect to the VATSIM network. FSCopilot is made by the same developer of the FSInn pilot client. It has many features used by the pilot client, as well as other conveniences for the user. With the FSCopilot API you can set map keys to the Joystick buttons, among many other things. By the way, the pilot client connects to VATSIM and it also connects to Flight Simulator. You can look at it as a bridge between Flight Simulator and VATSIM. -- L. James -- L. D. Max Kilibarda 1017018 Posted July 10, 2007 at 08:46 PM Author Posted July 10, 2007 at 08:46 PM Thanks alot Larry, your input is greatly appreciated because I was a little unsure about it all. Just to clarify though, you don't need to have FSCopilot if you have FSInn, but it just adds some more features? -Max

However, you can't make the mistake any more. If FSCopilit isn't install, you'd be prompted to install it before you could proceed. So, yes, you will need FSCopilot, but you wouldn't be left in doubt when you started the install. As I mentioned, FSInn uses the API, FSCopilot. Max Kilibarda 1017018 Posted July 10, 2007 at 09:56 PM Author Posted July 10, 2007 at 09:56 PM Thanks again, Larry, but I have one more question for you. Do you think think FSInn and Copilot are better than Squakbox 3 and the other program that you need for that has temporarily slipped my mind? Just wondering your opinion, as maybe it will help me in deciding which way I want to go about pilot client software. Thanks again, you've been a big help. -Max
Wycliffe Barrett Posted July 12, 2007 at 09:07 AM Posted July 12, 2007 at 09:07 AM Max If your using FS9 you can install either Sqbox 3 or Fsinn and Fscopilot. You will need FSUIPC if you install Sqbox3. FSUIPC is alittle like FSCOPILOT for FSinn. If you are only using FSX then there is only one pilot client you can use at the moment and that is FSinn and FScopilot. IMHO and after using Sqbox3 for over a year FSinn is by far the better pilot client. but as many will tell you try both and see what you think. Neither do I think Squawkbox is better than FSInn. -- L. James -- L. D.
