Last night I downloaded an airplane, installed it, played it. This morning flight sim won't start. I deleted al the files for the new airplane and still get a message "aircraft initialization failure" followed by the name of the plane...

What did I do wrong, and what is the right way to fix it...in time for denvers live ATC event later today

I am not particularly skillfull with actual computer work, I just fly it (maybe you noticed)

any suggestions are appreciated!

You may have to get support from the providers of the aircraft in question.

If you have a problem reinstalling FS9, First do a clean uninstall, then a reinstall. Try running FS9 clean. Then consider which addons you want to try so that you can narrow the problem down to a particular addon. Again, if it's the aircraft in question, then don't install that one, unless you have time and some support from someone familiar with the one in question, then wrong on it. Otherwise it appears you may have to do without the aircraft in question.

In your trouble shooting, there are occasions where the initial download might be flawed and a subsequent download might resolve the issue. But again, since you've narrowed some of your problems to the aircraft in question, you might give serious considerations as to whether to run that one or not.

seems to be part of my problem, I am not sure how to ininstall the aircraft in question. I deleted all the files in it's folder, and deleted the folder, which then gave me the error message, so i re-downloaded and unzipped the airplane in question, which now gives me the crash...

Should I delete the plane again, or is there a better way to make it go away, I don't really want it anymore with all this trouble.

thanks, Bill

I don't know what all it did. If it only modified the fs9.cfg (in %appdata%\microsoft\fsx ) then if you delete or rename that file it'll be regenerated new the next time you start FS9.

It might have a readme file showing how to uninstall it.

If you continue to have problems, you might have to try a clean install of FS9 again.

Which config file did you rename, because I am now getting that error message and would like to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Which version of flight simulator are you running? You can get there by typing the following in a Windows Explorer window:

For FS9: %appdata%\Microsoft\fs9

for FSX: %appdata%\Microsoft\fsx
