Connecting Problem

Hi,

I really want to be able to fly on Vatsim, but after hours of working I can't seem to be going anywhere. I have read what the PRC has to say about loading FSInn and FSCopilot, and that has worked smoothly. However my problem is that I cannot connect to the multiplayer session. I have FS2002. So I can get right up to the part where I the PRC tells me to enter my user name and the IP address 127.0.0.1 into the blank. I then click search and my cursor gives me the working sign and then goes normal again. No server identifications come up the Join button doesn't even change texture. My computer has a DSL connection and the connection is wired through a router. This computer is not wireless it is just wired through the router so another computer in the house can use a wireless connection. Should this setup be okay. Is their something I need to do to the router? The PRC doesn't say anything about router setup when using FSInn and FSCopilot. So I would like some advice on how to get this to work. I have reinstalled FS2002, FSInn, and FSCopilot already. I think the main problem is with multiplayer session.

I would appreciate the advice.

Glad to see you took the time to read the PRC. Sorry about that, for FSInn it's outdated and is currently causing a lot of confusion. I'm waiting for the submitted updates to be added.

Try following the instructions:

Announcement: "Installing FSInn"

http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=20466

It might reference a different version of Flight Simulator and OS, but the steps would basically be the same.

Be sure to completely uninstall FSCopilot/FSInn when changing versions.

As far as 2002, you'll still have to manually connect to Multiplayer by using the search option with "localhost" in the ip field.

Alright, I unistalled FSInn 1.2 and FSCopilot 1.6 and downloaded the new updates. But still when I put an IP address in and click search it does nothing. Is this a problem with FSInn or with my internet connection via Linksys router? If it is a problem with FSInn I could try Squawkbox 3. But the setup seems to be more confusing, because of portforwarding. There is a Norton anitvirus software on the computer and a Netnanny program. I don't know if any of their settings should be changed.

One thing I forgot to mention, when I downloaded the new FSInn 1.3 during the installation process one error occured. It said that a certain file called AIBridge/AIBridge.exe (it at least ended that way) could not be written. So I chose to ignore the problem. Is this an essential file?

The error message with aibridge came because it was apparently still running when you attempted to do the install. It's not an essential file.

What ever your problem with connecting, I'm sure it's simple and don't ming helping with it. Since you're be using SB3, I guess it's moot. But if you decide to explore FSInn, then I'll give you a list of items to check.

I'm not done with FSInn just yet. Someone told me that the FSInn box is supposed to turn Orange. Mine doesn't it starts of green and stays green? Is it suppose to?

Orange normally means a problem. It means the multiplayer isn't started.

Green means you've connected to the multiplayer session.

When you're connected to VATSIM, it should be blue. Take a look at the Flash connection tutorial at http://forums.vatsim.net/viewforum.php?f=43 for details of how to connect after the installation.

I already saw that tutorial. However my FSInn panel is looking different than that the SET button is down on the bottom right instead of the top right and on the left side I have a button that says advanced it is blue. The button at the top isn't solid green it is outlined in green.
