Tony Causer 877445 Posted December 3, 2004 at 12:34 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 12:34 PM I have recently changed my firewall to Zone Alarm from Sygate as the latter had an update that appeared to stop me getting on line. I now seem to have a problem getting p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed the multilayer connect in FS2004. This doesnt find my session after I start SB Relay even when I type in 127.0.0.1. Any thoughts anyone? Paul Williams 907674 Posted December 3, 2004 at 01:05 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 01:05 PM Try disbaling the firewall completley. If it allows you to connect then, we'll tweak it. I used to use ZoneAlarm Paul Williams (907674) - VATUK Controller & Pilot Essex OBS to TWR Mentor | Essex Crib Sheet Author & Maintainer Essex Radar Trainee | VATPAC Validated
Lennart Vedin Posted December 3, 2004 at 03:17 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 03:17 PM > Try disbaling the firewall completley I shuld never do this. In one minute I get virus. Thats the problem, to try out if the issue is a firewall-issue. Lennart Vedin SAS202 / Lennart Vedin /

But I understand your concern, I'm also very careful to disconnect firewall.
Paul Williams 907674 Posted December 3, 2004 at 05:24 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 05:24 PM Hi, I understand your concerns It is highly unlikely that, in the very short time that it will take to conduct this test, you will be infected. As long as you aren't browsing the web or reading your emails at the same time, you will be fine. As for hackers, well, studies show that it is a minimum of 8 minutes before an open PC is attacked. This is plenty of time to conduct the test Maybe you can disconnect the network cable while doing this. But I understand your concern, I'm also very careful to disconnect firewall. Won't he lose the internet connection when he does that? Luca Benelli Posted December 3, 2004 at 06:01 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 06:01 PM Hi,As for hackers, well, studies show that it is a minimum of 8 minutes before an open PC is attacked. This is plenty of time to conduct the test I'd check that study again... that looks more like the avarage time before you get any kind of attack... there's no minimum to the worst possibility... murphy docet Bye, Luca Luca Benelli - C3 - P2
Paul Williams 907674 Posted December 3, 2004 at 06:14 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 06:14 PM That figure is based on a study made by independent security experts. 8 minutes was the shortest time that it took before any computer (that was physically broadcasting its ports out to the open world) was compromised. It was out of 100 and something computers, all over the world. Ali Abou-Zeid Posted December 3, 2004 at 08:18 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 08:18 PM My 2 cents: Make sure that SBRelay, SB, FS2004 and all other software required to fly online is allowed to access the Internet in Zone Alarm, also, some of them should act as servers, but I'm not sure which exactly. I use Zone Alarm Pro and I don't have any such problems. Good luck. Ali Abou-Zeid What Centreline??
Lauri Matikainen 884852 Posted December 3, 2004 at 10:42 PM Posted December 3, 2004 at 10:42 PM Hi, Fortunately Zone Alarm has recently released an update that resolves this multiplayer problem. (Tried it and it definetly worked ) So just download and install Zone Alarm version 5.5.062 here and it should work fine.
